2012 Stallion Pages

The 2012 Stallion Pages are now live. They include basic information about the stallions, as well as the current list of named 2-year-olds. At this time of the year, many 2-year-olds have not yet been named. I will update these lists regularly, about once a week.

Henrythenavigator leads the way with 220 registered 2-year-olds, including Southern Hemisphere offspring. Midnight Lute has 125, Curlin 106, Big Brown 80, and The Green Monkey has 25.

Who Is Camille?

All eleven ran on the good track, including the entry of Direction (Tapit - Freccia by Cryptoclearance) and Dancing Desire (Mr. Greeley - Tempest Dancer by Storm Cat). First-timer Unavailable (Distorted Humor - Emotion Parade (ARG) by Parade Marshal) was the early favorite, but fellow debuter Alexandra's Grace (Hard Spun - Mycatcandance by Storm Cat) was the lukewarm 3-1 choice at post time. Welcome Guest (Unbridled's Song - My Friend C. Z. by Seeking the Gold) caught my eye in the paddock. Black and White (Roman Ruler - Her Temptation by High Yield) was showing some spunk. This was a nice-looking bunch of fillies. Dancing Desire was off slowly. Martini (Yes It's True - Tropical Punch by Two Punch) went to the front. Cloudwatcher (Macho Uno - Silk Queen by Touch Gold) came up the inside to join her. Also up close were Who Is Camille (Dixie Union - Chapena by Fusaichi Pegasus), Alexandra's Grace, and Direction. Welcome Guest made a move on the outside to get into the race. Who Is Camille took a short lead as they came out of the turn, but Cloudwatcher, Welcome Guest, and Direction still had a shot. But it was 41-1 Who Is Camille that held them all off for the win. Welcome Guest and Direction finished a head apart in 2nd and 3rd, and Cloudwatcher weakened to finish fourth. Alexandra's Grace tired to 10th after her early involvement. Hopefully, she'll last longer next out. Watch the Replay.

Purest Form (Purim - Michellemybelle by Irish Tower) took command after a half, and won by 5 3/4 lengths. Watch the Replay.

Photon (gelding; Invasor (ARG) - Lady Bertrando by Bertrando) was closing late in race 1 at Gulfstream Park, a mile Claiming Race (Claiming Price $15,000), but couldn't quite catch pacesetter Star Distinction (With Distinction - Starlet Note by Notebook), with Photon settling for second. Photon was claimed out of the race, and will now be trained by Rick Dutrow. Let's see if he moves up in class. Watch the Replay.

Michael P. (colt; Corinthian - Le Chateau by Chester House) finished 5th in his debut in race 6 at Tampa Bay Downs, a mile Maiden Claiming Race (Claiming Price $30,000), but was placed 4th upon the disqualification of the 2nd-place finisher. The race was scheduled for the turf, but run at a mile and 40 yards on the fast main track. The winner was favorite Dance to the Roar (Roar of the Tiger - Atticus's Woman by Atticus). Watch the Replay.
