Call Him Sir

Tuckers Point (Birdstone - Shesanoactor by Noactor) was scratched, leaving 12 on the fast track. Sir Bond (Street Sense - Emmaus by Silver Deputy) was the 2-1 favorite. He looked good, and I was liking Brigade (Tiznow - Winter Forest by Forestry) on the track. He took some early money, but was 28-1 at post time. Last Gunfighter (First Samurai - Saratoga Cat by Sir Cat) was reluctant to load. Money Only (Malibu Moon - Snit by Fit to Fight) and Brigade battled early, with Mucho Macho Uno (Macho Uno - Wage a Penny by Valid Wager) just off of these. Sir Bond was at the back early. Money Only and Brigade separated a bit from the rest, as Proper Empire (Empire Maker - Proper Cielo by Conquistador Cielo) made up some ground. Sir Bond began moving on the outside. He rolled to the lead, and left the others behind. He was green in the stretch, but still recorded a 7 1/4 length win. Last Gunfighter was making up spots late to take second, and Brigade hung around for third. I had labeled Sir Bond a hanger after his first couple starts, but there was no hang in him today. One Appealing Win

The turf was firm. Only the AEs, including Queen of England (English Channel - Babae (CHI) by Barkerville) were out. Queen of England is entered Saturday. Appealing Cat (Successful Appeal - Dynamic Cat by Dynaformer) was the 4-5 favorite, Adamas (Corinthian - In the Limelight by Polish Navy) was almost 64-1. She looked nice on the track, but so did favorite Appealing Cat. That Devil Did It (Indian Ocean - Darn That Devil by Devil His Due) had some spring in her step, and I really liked the way that first time starter Julia's Star (El Prado (IRE) - Feisty Bull by Holy Bull) was warming up. Fancy Blue (Bluegrass Cat - Fancy Clancy by Rahy) acted up at the load. That Devil Did It came out running, and led early. Julia's Star and Adamas set out after The Devil Did It. Appealing Cat began to move up. Julia's Star took a short lead, but Appealing Cat was making her run, and left Julia's Star behind. Running late was Left a Message (Mr. Greeley - Chief Secretary by Deputy Minister), who picked up second, while Julia's Star had to settle for third. Adamas tired to 6th, but this was not a bad debut for her. Watch the Replay.
