The Rock Prevails

Calming Sea (Kipling - Southern Breeze by General Royal) was scratched, and the track was fast. Moonovermanhattan (Malibu Moon - East Is East by Gone West) was favored, Survival Instinct (Corinthian - Mezzo by Broad Brush) received little respect at almost 25-1. The start was good. Cleft in the Rock (Arch - Cleft by A.P. Indy) went for the lead along with Moonovermanhattan and Harlan's Crown (Harlan's Holiday - Lets' Coast by Cozzene). Harlan's Crown poked his head in front from the outside, but Cleft in the Rock used his inside position to claim the early advantage. Harlan's Crown and Moonovermanhattan set after the pacesetter. There was a 5 length gap back to the others. Survival Instinct was off well, but settled at the back. Cleft in the Rock continued to show the way up front. Moonovermanhattan moved by Harlan's Crown to claim second, but he couldn't catch Cleft in the Rock, who won by a length. Behind Harlan's Crown, it was Ctimene (Consolidator - Persimmon Hill by Conquistador Cielo) and Walleyedqueen (Dance With Ravens - Follow the Queen by Not For Love) finishing together in 4th and 5th. Survival Instinct never really got going, trailing for most of the race, while running wide. Watch the Replay.
