New worker for Midnight Lute

Mylute (colt; Midnight Lute - Stage Stop by Valid Expectations) went 3 furlongs in :39.40 at Goldmark on March 3. Sorry for the delay in reporting this, but I just received notice today. Mylute sold for $150,000 as a yearling, and is the second foal out of stakes winner Stage Stop, who earned $252,320. Stage Stop's first foal is grade III winner She Digs Me, who won 3 races at 2, including the Tyro Stakes and the Sapling Stakes, while earning $151,670. Stage Stop is a full sister to three winners, including stakes winner Valid Move.

News and Notes

The second two-year-old race of the year, Race 5 at Sunland Park on March 4, was won by favorite Indication N M (Attlia's Storm - Indicate by A.P. Indy), who dueled early and then won by 1 1/4 lengths. Watch the Replay.

The named 2-year-old lists were updated for our stallions. New names include Cristoforo Colombo, a colt by Henrythenavigator, out of grade III winner La Traviata.

March 4 Results

A Fair Win

Tribal Delight (Tribal Rule - Creole Delights by Bertrando) and Donna Sha Lei Lei (Pleasantly Perfect - Flaming Dixie by Dixieland Band) were scratched, leaving 9 on the Tapeta. Chapel Chick (Corinthian - Gata Secreta by Spinning World) was favored, Hard Spun Secrets (Hard Spun - No Secrets by El Corredor) was almost 11-1, and Strait Jazz (English Channel - Jazzy One by Horatius) was 15-1. She's the Tops (Old Topper - Andoverend by End Sweep), Chapel Chick, and Kind of Naughty (Songandaprayer - Daintree by Regal Affair) went for the early lead. Hard Spun Secrets and Strait Jazz were both near the back early. Amongst the front runners, She's the Tops threw in the towel first. Chapel Chick and Kind of Naughty continued to duel, but both Lady Fairbanks (Pure Prize - Yes It's Royalty by Yes It's True) and Hard Spun Secrets were making runs. They swept by the pacesetters, with Lady Fairbanks getting the win by 2 1/4 lengths. Hard Spun Secrets finished nicely in second, an excellent debut for her, with Kind of Naughty and Chapel Chick clocking in at 3rd and 4th. Strait Jazz was hustled up after her tardy beginning, but flattened out after being bumped, and finished 6th. Watch the Replay.

Small Kitchen (filly; Corinthian - Banshee Girl by Deputy Minister) was favored in race 9 at Fair Grounds, a 6 furlong Allowance/Optional Claiming Race, and went right to the lead, pulling away for an impressive 7 1/4 length win. Flame Run (filly; Hard Spun - Swept Away by Mystery Storm) was involved for a time, but faded to 6th. Small Kitchen is now a perfect 2 for 2, with earnings of $47,064. Watch the Replay.

Hard Nosed (gelding; Hard Spun - Katy Kat by Forest Wildcat) finished third, and Suprise Ending (colt; English Channel - Emily's Angel by Saint Ballado) was 7th in race 1 at Oaklawn Park, a 6 furlong Claiming Race (Claiming Price $7,500) for 3-year-olds and up. Love Letter (filly; Corinthian - Script by Storm Cat) did not get in off the AE list for race 5 at Gulfstream Park, a mile Maiden Claiming Race (Claiming Price $12,500). Preach Easy (filly; Corinthian - Maypole Dance by Northern Raja) finished 2nd, and Seaside Magic (filly; Hard Spun - Enduring Will by Arch) finished 8th after bobbling at the start, in race 9 at Parx Racing, a 6 furlong Allowance Race. First time out, she was favored and went right to the lead, but was passed late by Kaleidoscope. Kaleidoscope returned to the races on February 25, finishing 5th in a mile Allowance Race at Gulfstream. Flashy American (Flashy Bull - Inn Between by Quiet American) has four previous starts, 2 in 2011 and 2 in 2012. She finished 10th at 6 furlongs on the Polytrack at Keeneland on October 14, 2nd at a mile on a sloppy track at Churchill Downs on November 27, 3rd at a mile on a fast track at Gulfstream Park on January 8, and 4th on that same surface at a mile and a sixteenth on February 5. Flashy American was purchased for $5,000 as a weanling, and is out of stakes-placed Inn Between, who earned $162,297. Inn Between is the dam of the winner Look Officer. Welcome Guest (Unbridled's Song - My Friend C. Z. by Seeking the Gold) was 2nd in her only previous race, at 6 furlongs on a good dirt track at Gulfstream Park on February 8. She was purchased for $250,000 as a yearling, and is out of the placed mare My Friend C. Z. My Friend C. Z. has produced the winner Lifelong, and is a half sister to 2 winners, including grade I winner Political Force. My Friend C. Z.'s dam is grade I winner Glitter Woman.

Finishing 3rd in her only start was Down West (Gone West - Down Here by Dehere), who ran 7 furlongs at Gulfstream Park on February 12. A $80,000 yearling, she is a half sister to the winner Rupert's Promise. Their dam, Down Here, is a half sister to 8 winners, including stakes winners Swift and Classy and Seducer.

Leda's Swan (Macho Uno - Moonlight Cruise by Silver Deputy) finished 5th, in front of Gagne, at 6 furlongs on January 20 at Laurel. It was her only start. She was a $10,000 yearling, and is out of stakes-placed Moonlight Cruise, who earned $121,366. Moonlight Cruise is a half sister to 3 winners, including group III winner Admiral's Cruise, and grade I stakes-placed Transcendental, who earned $381,976.

Dial Direct (Touch Gold - Touch Dial by Phone Trick) is a veteran of three starts. Devil's Reason's first foal is the winner Reason to Drink, a full brother to Serenity Prayer, who has earned $136,560. Devil's Reason is a half sister to 6 winners, including stakes-placed winners Dixie of Perth and Forecastor.

Burst Away (After Market - Symbolic by Silver Deputy) sold for $3,000 as a yearling, and is a half sister to the winner Celtic Cross, who earned $118,815. Their dam, the unraced mare Symbolic, is a half sister to 6 winners, including stakes winners Echo of Yesterday, Caribbean Pirate, and Sweet Life, and grade I winner Pirate's Revenge. Sweet Life is the dam of grade I winners Sweet Catomine and Life Is Sweet.

Big John B (Hard Spun - Baldomera by Doneraile Court) and English Major (gelding; English Channel - Deb's Charm by Silver Charm) meet in race 7 at Gulfstream Park, a Maiden Claiming Race (Claiming Price $75,000) schedueled for a mile on the turf.
