Across the Track to the Winner's Circle

All seven ran on the fast track. Across the Track (Istan - Down the Street by Ghazi) was favored at 5-2, just a couple of ticks lower than Virginia Ann (Yes It's True - Durajazz by Dixieland Band). Hard Hat (Hard Spun - Bright Feather by Fappiano) was also respected at 3-1, and Gagne (Invasor (ARG) - Walk On Broadway by Broad Brush) was almost 10-1. Penthouse Party (Offlee Wild - Expect Excellence by Pentelicus) and Gagne broke well, but Virginia Ann came up the rail to grab the lead. She was soon several lengths in front. Penthouse Party was her nearest pursuer. Hard Hat was off slowly, and then was shuffled back even farther. Penthouse Party began to catch Virginia Ann on the turn. Across the Track was looming in third, and Smart Cash (Awesome Again - Dynamite Lass by Dynaformer) began to make up ground on the inside. However, Smart Cash encountered some traffic troubles, and Across the Track swept to the lead on the outside and took the victory. Smart Cash came between horses to grab second, with Virginia Ann settling for third. Hard Hat never really got to run much, and finished 5th. Gagne brought up the rear in 7th. Watch the Replay.

That is Simpaticat

The track was fast. Final Escrow (Bernardini - Escrow Agent by El Gran Senor) was the heavy favorite. Adamas (Corinthian - In the Limelight by Polish Navy) was 6-1. Simpaticat (Tale of the Cat - Tantrum by Pleasant Colony) made a favorable first impression. Adamas looks like her Daddy. The horses came on the track for the post parade. However, one of the entrants was missing, as Adamas was a late scratch. Debuting Assyria (Empire Maker - Sparky Three by Monarchos) looked good on the track. He was getting a little attention from the bettors at 4-1. The start was good for all except the favorite Final Escrow, who stumbled badly. Unwrapped Package (Value Plus - Powerful Package by Star de Naskra), With Gratitude (Ecton Park - Shooting Fire by Caveat), and Mykukubird (With Distinction - Apache Dancer by Alphabet Soup) went for the lead. Mykukubird won that contest, as Unwrapped Package assumed a pressing position. Simpaticat began to make up ground. Unwrapped Package took a short lead, but Simpaticat went by her. Unwrapped Package hung tough, but Simpaticat got the win by 1 3/4 lengths. Moving into third late was Assyria, as favorite Final Escrow had to settle for fourth. Watch the Replay.
