Too Liberating for Infanta Branca

All ten ran, and the turf was good. Infanta Branca (Henrythenavigator - Totemic by Vanlandingham) was favored. Desert Fantasy (Oasis Dream (GB) - Juno Marlowe (IRE) by Danehill) set the early pace, tracked by Liberating (Iffraaj (GB) - Ros The Boss (IRE) by Danehill). Liberating made her move, and hit the front. Infanta Branca was in 4th midway through the race, and then began to show some interest. She tried to mount a challenge to Liberating, but that rival was never threatened, as she posted a 2 1/2 length win. However, Infanta Branca was 2 lengths clear of third-place Watsdachances (Diamond Green (FR) - High Finance (IRE) by Entrepreneur (GB)).

Barisoff Pulls it Off

Jody Dream (Master Command - Unbridled Dream by Unbridled's Song) was scratched, as well as Lignite (Run Away and Hide - Internal Affair by Orientate), half of the Wesley Ward-trained entry. The other half of the entry, Barisoff (Put It Back - Miz Betty Grace by Matty G) was made the favorite. I kind of liked the look of Angel Socks (Eurosilver - Snow Angel by Alphabet Soup), who had to return to the paddock for an equipment change. Miz Martini (Mizzen Mast - West Sider by Gone West) kept catching my eye. The load and break were fairly smooth. Barisoff went to the lead, but Emma's Holy Bee (Defer - Whateverwillbwillb by Western Expression) and All Day Donna (Value Plus - Kiss the King by Roman Ruler) set after her. Second choice Quiet Success (Successful Appeal - Silenzia by Quiet American) was off slowly, and trailed early. Barisoff began to pull away in the stretch, as Quiet Success and Angel Socks made up some ground. Barisoff drew off to score a 8 1/4 length win, with Angel Socks outfinishing Quiet Success for second. I would suggest watching Quiet Success next out. But, I am probably not alone in that observation, and she will probably be favored. Watch the Replay.

Pretty impressed with Star Channel, what a nice stride on that guy. If the horse got enough earnings for the derby to get in he would be way dangerous with Calvin up in the irons.
