It's Brenda's Way

Wildcat Connection (Ready's Image - Shorlove Kayleigh by Not For Love) was scratched from the main field, allowing AE entrant Let's Drink On It (First Samurai - Cozzmic Wonder by Cozzene) to run. The other AEs were left on the sidelines. The track was fast. Stormy Adventure (Deputy Storm - Indian Head Penny by Waquoit) took the early money, but Brenda's Way (Weigelia - Malibu Mystique by Malibu Moon) was the choice at post time, and she made a favorable first impression. I was liking Miss E. T. A. (Afleet Alex - Successful Romance by Successful Appeal) and Lively Times (Two Punch - Phyxius by Broad Brush) on the track, but Brenda's Way continued to attract attention with her spunk. Take the Train (Silver Train - Pimento by Go for Gin) was a bit aggravated. Set to Smoke (Exclusive Quality - Not Affiliated by Tale of the Cat) broke on top, but she was passed by Let's Drink On It, Take the Train, and Lively Times. Coming into the picture on the outside was Brenda's Way. She hit the front, and kept right on running. Although she was a bit green, Brenda's Way scored an easy victory, winning by 7 3/4 lengths. Craftwell's Belle (St. Averil - Paying Off by Malibu Moon) came on late to just grab second from Set to Smoke, and Snow Princess (After Market - Yuki No Princess by Cahill Road), Miss E. T. A., and Stormy Adventure finished a neck and a nose apart in 4th, 5th, and 6th. Brenda's Way is the first winner for freshman sire Weigelia. Watch the Replay. Read more about Brenda's Way here.

He was Boundtoscore

Nails in the Fence (Heatseeker (IRE) - Diamondinthestream by Smart Strike) was the only scratch. The Wesley Ward-trained Handsome Jack (Bring the Heat - My Outlet by Montbrook) was favored. However, I liked the look of his other entrant, The Roofer (Fairbanks - Darnestown by Williamstown). Ready Set Whoa (Ready's Image - Sun Luck by Conquistador Cielo), the first starter for Ready's Image, was a little rambunctious in the paddock. Joha (Johar - Mujado (IRE) by Mujadil) was looking good as they moved toward the track. Alls Im Saying (Taste of Paradise - Miss Imagination by Halo's Image) got a strong warmup, and I'mgonnaknockuout (Quest - Poltapenny by Wagon Limit) was kind of interesting. The start was decent. Handsome Jack took the lead from his rail spot, but he had company from The Roofer and I'm Boundtoscore (Even the Score - Unaltered by Pulpit). Joha made a move and hit the front, but he couldn't hold off I'm Boundtoscore, who surged to the front for a 1/2 length win. Joha was clear in second, with The Roofer taking third over Alls Im Saying and a tiring Handsome Jack. Watch the Replay.
