OBS Spring Sale of 2-Year-Olds in Training Under Tack Show

The Under Tack Show for the OBS Spring Sale of 2-Year-Olds in Training concluded on Friday, April 20. All five of our 2012 Stallions had offspring work, as detailed below. The Green Monkey had two, Curlin and Henrythenavigator each had three, Big Brown had 5, and Midnight Lute had 14 workers. Photon (gelding; Invasor (ARG) - Lady Bertrando by Bertrando) stumbled at the start, rallied late, and won race 6 at Aqueduct, a 6 furlong Starter Optional Claiming Race, by a head. Watch the Replay.

Spiced Latte (filly; Corinthian - Latte by Pleasant Tap) was involved from the beginning, and pulled away late in race 5 at Golden Gate, a Claiming Race at a mile on the firm turf, to win by 3 1/4 lengths. Watch the Replay.

Wound Up (colt; Hard Spun - Meadow Flyer by Meadowlake) closed to finish 3rd in race 4 at Keeneland, a 1 1/16 mile Maiden Claiming Race (Claiming Price $20,000). Rally Point (Thunder Gulch - Boogie Beach Blues by Cure the Blues) ran down pacesetter Rylees Edge (The Cliff's Edge - Sweet Sarah by Deputy Minister), who at one point had a 7 length lead, for the win. Big Girl (filly; Street Sense - Quiet Celerity by Quiet American) finished 4th in race 2 at Golden Gate Fields, a 5.5 furlong Claiming Race. Favorite Attracta (Popular - Holy Astra by Holy Bull) was the winner. Watch the Replay.

Cytherean (colt; Street Sense - Venusberg (ARG) by Southern Halo) finished 8th in race 8 at Keeneland, a 6.5 furlong Maiden Special Weight, as Into the Fray (War Front - Deed I Do by Alydeed) flew home to win by 6 1/4 lengths. Into the Fray was the 6th winner on the day for Julien Leparoux. Watch the Replay.

Stakes Entry

Skyring (colt; English Channel - Violet Lady by Seattle Slew) and Grade III winner Castaway (colt; Street Sense - Priceless Storm by Storm Cat) meet in the 1 1/16 mile Coolmore Lexington Stakes (gr. III) at Keeneland. Post time is 5:13 PM ET. Skyring was last seen finishing 7th in the 1 1/8 mile Illinois Derby (gr.III) on April 7, after stumbling at the start. Previously, he had run four times, all at Oaklawn Park. He broke his maiden in his fourth start, a 1 1/16 mile contest on March 17. He also finished second at that distance on February 25. Since the Illinois Derby, he worked 4 furlongs in :50.20 at Churchill Downs on April 17. Skyring is a half brother to 7 winners, including stakes winner Caballero Negro, and grade II winner Greenspring, who earned $205,780. Violet Lady, dam of Skyring, is a full sister to one winner, and a half sister to 4 winners, including stakes-placed Real Bear. Castaway won 1st Division of the Southwest Stakes (gr. III) at a mile at Oaklawn Park on February 20, and then finished 7th in the 1 1/8 mile Sunland Derby (gr. III) on March 25, after setting the pace. He has worked a couple of times since then Sunland Derby, including 5 furlongs in 1:01.20 at Santa Anita on April 15. Castaway sold for $435,000 as a yearling, and is out of the winning mare Priceless Storm. Priceless Storm has produced 3 winners from 3 to run. Priceless Storm is a half sister to 6 winners, including grade III winner Aurora Lights, and grade II winner Master Command.  A win by Castaway in the Lexington could put him in the Kentucky Derby (gr. Ravin's Rich Girl  was purchased for $25,000 as a yearling, and is a half sister to 2 winners, including stakes winner For All Who Dream. Betz Brush, dam of Ravin's Rich Girl, is a half sister to 9 winners, including Blazing Colors, a stakes winner on the turf and dirt who earned $266,602. Seanchai was a winner in her only start, a mile and a sixteenth turf race at Tampa Bay Downs on March 10.
