Roman's Avenue to the Winner's Circle

The fillies Lignite (Run Away and Hide - Internal Affair by Orientate) and All Day Donna (Value Plus - Kiss the King by Roman Ruler) were scratched, leaving 5 colts to battle on the fast track. Roman's Avenue (Street Sense - Career Fair by Storm Cat) opened as the favorite, and took more and more money as post time approached. He looked ready for action, bouncing around the paddock. Western Sadler (Mr. Greeley - Forever After (GB) by Sadler's Wells) caught my eye, and I was really liking the looks of Hightail (Mineshaft - Stormy Renee by Storm Cat). However, the latter horse hopped at the start, and lost all chance. Roman's Avenue went right to the front. Lew and Mike (Lewis Michael - Peaceful Sky by Sky Mesa) set after him. Western Sadler made up some ground, and took over second late, but he had no answer for Roman's Avenue, who scored a 4 1/4 length win. Lew and Mike kept third, with Purge to Purge (Purge - Dance Dance Dance (IRE) by Dance of Life) and Hightail completing the running order. The talk will all be about Roman's Avenue, but I can't wait to see Hightail try again. Watch the Replay.

Go Thibodaux

All twelve fillies ran on the fast track. Thibodaux (Early Flyer - Annis by Texas Glitter) was favored, and she looked the part. No one else was getting much attention from the bettors. I liked Portales (Sharp Humor - Justasprinkle by Gilded Time) a bit. Snappy Girl (Student Council - Snap to It by Honour and Glory) acted up at the load. Favorite Thibodaux came out running, with Snappy Girl, Redstone Mist (Henny Hughes - Sankobasi by Pulpit), and Data Plan (Shakespeare - Dixie Dawn by Dixie Union) after her. Thibodaux continued to show the way, and widened her advantage in the stretch. She went on to post an impressively easy 7 1/2 length victory. Sassy Sondra (Officer - African Treasure by Johannesburg) and Portales were both running late to pick up second and third, and High Lover (River Squall - Mile High Lover by Favorite Trick) ran evenly to take fourth. Watch the Replay.

Don from PA/DE

Certainly Chris the betting publics got it right in these two races! Sorry but I just have to shout out about (Sir) Shackleton what a warrior!, Who would have believed back at CD 30-1 or so? Wonderful to see, what a sire he should be if he is not gelded...a real tough yet beautiful guy.....even "Sir" must be wondering if this is really his offspring?  Thanks for the updates

Sorry this librarian sometimes gets so excited that he confuses "fords' with "tons"
