Tahnee Gets the Ring of Luck

Whistlin Sarah (Weather Warning - Whistlin a Song by Unbridled's Song) was scratched, leaving 7 on the Polytrack. Ring of Luck (Weather Warning - Dial Tone by Phone Trick) was favored but appeared to be a little rambunctious on the track. Also getting some play was  Lady Do Good (Philanthropist - Mushroom Countess (IRE) by Persian Bold (IRE)). I was liking Derek's Darling (Tomahawk - Eropa by Joyeux Danseur) and Silent Star (Silent Name (JPN) - Quppy by Not For Love). Lady Do Good was off slowly. Ring of Luck held the early lead, but Tahnee (Where's the Ring - Papoose by Apalachee) came through on the inside to set the pace. Ring of Luck assumed a chasing position. Derek's Darling (Tomahawk - Eropa by Joyeux Danseur) had to check, and Victoria Beebe (Survivalist - Jean Beebe by Missionary Ridge (GB)) was squeezed, and was forced to retreat to the back. Tahnee continued to lead, followed by Ring of Luck and Lady Do Good. Silent Star and Stay Silent (Silent Name (JPN) - Shannon's Limerick by Black Minnaloushe) started to show some interest. Ring of Luck ran at Tahnee, but Tahnee was still 1/2 length in front at the wire. It was close for third, with Silent Star outfinishng Lady Do Good by a head. Watch the Replay.

Dancing to the Wire

Capriccio Blue (With Distinction - Rocket Elaine by Afleet), Impossible Mary (Montbrook - Heaven's Notebook by Notebook), and Lori's Image (Hal's Image - Makememoneyhoney by Double Honor) were scratched. The track was fast for the remaining 5. Sainted Dancer (Saint Anddan - Load Up by Dove Hunt) was the heavy favorite. She outbroke the field, and went on to set the early pace. Aguanile (Put It Back - Wild Libby by Wild Event), Joanie's Image (Hal's Image - First Ace by First Tour), and Lots of Mazel (Olmodavor - Vanishing Wolf by Mazel Trick) raced after her. Sainted Dancer continued to control the pace, with Aguanile chasing. Joanie's Image moved into second late, but she was no threat to Sainted Dancer, who won by 4 1/2 lengths. Joanie's Image was a length clear of Aguanile, and it was a long way back to the trailers, One Eye Cap (Proud Accolade - Stormy Dynasty by Future Storm) and Lots of Mazel. Watch the Replay.

This is not on topic but, yesterday I toured historic Sagamore Farm. It was very very cool. The people are fabulous and answered all of our questions. We got to see the renovations Kevin Plank has done to the farm as well as some of the historic stuff including the original stall of Native Dancer and the cemetery where Native Dancer, Restless Native, Discovery, Bed O'Roses and some really nice mares are buried. I was very impressed with the condition of the horses. They have a very nice gray two year old (Water Tower) by Mizzen Mast who got my immediate attention. He has a nice turf pedigree (cozzene) and looked very smooth going over the tapeta training track. A gray horse at Sagamore ? You could almost see Native Dancer in the shadows. I did not get to see Shared Account who came back home to Maryland after her date with Bernardini just last week, but she is confirmed in foal. Water Tower is on track for a late June, Early July debut. I think he is one to watch.

When I was a child, my 4-H club got to tour Sagamore.  I believe we saw Restless Native.  (It was in the early to mid-70s.)  It made a big impression on me.
