News and Notes

Racing was canceled at Belmont Park on account of the heat, so Palace Malice (Curlin) will have to wait for another day for his debut.

Tiz Wonderful picked up his first winner, when Scammony (Tiz Wonderful - Scammer by Pembroke) won her first start in the 7th race at Churchill Downs on June 21. Watch the Replay.

No Maiden Watch horses are in action on Friday, so I will preview two races for Saturday.

June 21 Result

Pedro is Pretty Darn Good

The turf was soft, and Desert of Dreams (Exceed And Excel (AUS) - Majestic Desert (GB) by Fraam (GB)) and Estinaad (Street Sense - Dawla (GB) by Alhaarth (IRE)) were scratched. Pedro the Great (Henrythenavigator - Glatisant (GB) by Rainbow Quest) was favored. He went right to the front, tracked by Wexford Opera (New Approach (IRE) - Sister Angelina by Saint Ballado) and Sharkayla (Zamindar - Sharleez (IRE) by Marju (IRE)). They were unable to gain on Pedro the Great, however, as he drew away in the stretch to win by an easy 4 1/4 lengths. Pedro the Great is third winner for Henrythenavigator. Read more about him here.
