Stakes Result

Pedro the Great (Henrythenavigator - Glatisant (GB) by Rainbow Quest) sat off the early pace in the Group I Phoenix Stakes at the Curragh, and was then swung to the outside. He hit the front, and kept on running, taking the race by 2 3/4 lengths. Cristoforo Colombo (Henrythenavigator - La Traviata by Johannesburg) did not fare as well, as he clipped heels late in the race and went down. However, he suffered only cuts in the incident, and should be back soon. Pedro the Great is the first stakes winner for Henrythenavigtor. Read more about the Phoenix here.

No Stopping Debbie

My Cadi (Parker's Storm Cat - Bacpac by Carson City) and Boss Dancer (Street Boss - Oilily by Mt. Livermore) were scratched. The track was fast. Stopshoppingdebbie (Curlin - Taste the Passion by Wild Again) was the heavy favorite. Pebble Beach Baby (Rock Hard Ten - Sarna by Son of Briartic) broke on top. But, she soon had company, as the entire field was within a length of the front. This did not last long, however, as Stopshoppingdebbie and Innocent Love (Grand Slam - Rich in Love by Seattle Slew) began to separate from the others. That pair dueled into the turn. As they came out of the turn, Stopshoppingdebbie began to pull away. She went on to win by an easy 7 lengths. Innocent Love was tiring, but she had just enough left to hold off Pebble Beach Baby. Agoodlawyer Willdo (Lawyer Ron - La Belle Marquet by Marquetry) and Shannon Marie (Harbor the Gold - Piney Bubbles by Basket Weave) completed the field. Stopshoppingdebbie is the 5th winner for Curlin. Watch the Replay.

The Winning Destiny

The track was fast. Picture Me Mad (Don't Get Mad - Prado's Picture by El Prado (IRE)) and Reba's Storm (Stormello - Reba Got Even by Stephen Got Even) were scratched. Hold Our Destiny (Midnight Lute - Perfect Charm by Charismatic) took most of the money from the bettors. Sofia and Mia (Toccet - Always Love by Not For Love) was 2nd-choice. Hold Our Destiny was a little unsettled before the start. Path of Pride (Service Stripe - Susie Winkles Gift by Monetary Gift) lept to the lead, but Hold Our Destiny didn't let her get away, and soon took a short lead. Behind this pair were Afrodita (First Samurai - A. P. Information by A.P. Indy), Dubai's Glory (E Dubai - Lauriefullofglory by Honour and Glory), and Sofia and Mia. This group was soon joined by Live and Learn (Quiet American - Life Savior by Patton). Continuing to duel up front were Hold Our Destiny and Path of Pride. The latter filly got her head in front for a time, but her advantage was short-lived. Hold Our Destiny cut the corner nicely, and began to draw clear. She galloped home in front by 6 3/4 lengths. Getting up for second in the middle of the track was Sofia and Mia, followed by Afrodita, who was even farther wide. A tired Path of Pride just held fourth by a nose over Dubai's Glory (E Dubai - Lauriefullofglory by Honour and Glory), and Live and Learn was another head back in 5th. Hold Our Destiny is the 5th winner for Midnight Lute, who has been on fire lately, picking up three winners in three days. Watch the Replay.

Lammtarra's Arc

I am interested to see more Midnight Lute babies rocking the track.  Also Pedro The Great is certainly a solid horse to keep an eye on, and maybe a 2000 Guineas top contender next year?.
