The Warrior Delivers

The track was fast. Buddy's Smart (Smart Strike - Summer Colony by Summer Squall), entrymate to Buddy's Tiz (Tiznow - Caroline's Gold by Touch Gold) was scratched, as well as Tizracer (Tiznow - G City Gal by Elusive Quality), entrymate to Archwarrior (Arch - Winner's Edge by Seeking the Gold). The latter horse opened at 1-9, and went off at 1-4. Overnight Trading (Midnight Lute - Rainbow Promise by Known Fact) and his entrymate Unlikely Scenario (Distorted Humor - Lassie's Legacy by Deputy Minister) were 5-1. Transparent (Bernardini - Habiboo by Unbridled's Song) made a favorable first impression. Debuting More Falling Star (More Than Ready - Listen by Chester House) had some spring in his step, and I was liking Malachite (Notional - Jena's Gold by Seeking the Gold) on the track. I thought Overnight Trading might need a race, his entrymate Unlikely Scenario, looked ready. There was nothing negative in Archwarrior's appearance, but he wasn't really knocking my socks off. He was a tad reluctant to load. More Falling Star broke awkwardly, spotting the field more than 5 lengths. He never recovered, trailing throughout. Transparent broke on top, with Unlikely Scenario coming up the rail to join him. Archwarrior was just off these in third early, followed by Buddy's Tiz. Archwarrior made an early move to put some pressure on Transparent, with Unlikely Scenario dropping back to third. Malachite began to make up some ground. As they entered the final furlong, Archwarrior eased to the lead, and went on to win by 3 1/4 lengths. Mallachite was the only other one running much at the end, but he had to settle for second. Unlikely Scenario took third over Transparent, with Buddy's Tiz and Overnight Trading finishing a neck apart in 5th and 6th. Watch the Replay.

I don't we will see what Archwarrior has until Pletcher stretches him out.  Not a bad debut, but as you say nothing to knock your socks off.
