Angela was Dreaming of Winning

The ground was yielding, and fourteen ran. Angela's Dream (Chineur (FR) - Church Mice (IRE) by Petardia (GB)) and Bedecked (Holy Roman Emperor (IRE) - Fainne (IRE) by Peintre Celebre) were joint tepid favorites at 5-1. Clancy Avenue (Henrythenavigator - Saintly Speech by Southern Halo) was 8-1. Granny On Fire (Trade Fair (GB) - Kashra (IRE) by Dancing Dissident) broke on top, but Randall's Alannah (High Chaparral (IRE) - Randall's Diana (IRE) by Monashee Mountain) soon went forward to set the pace. She was chased by Angela's Dream and C'Est Ma Souer (Oratorio (IRE) - Gilded Edge (GB) by Cadeaux Genereux (GB)), with Lake Louise (Haatef - Emmas Princess (IRE) by Bahhare) and Granny On Fire up close. As they rounded the turn, Angela's Dream came through on the inside to take the lead. Clancy Avenue emerged from the pack to mount a challenge. He was gaining and gaining on her, but at the line Angela's Dream still held the advantage by a neck. It was five lengths back to Lake Louise in third, followed by Is Feider Leis (Moss Vale (IRE) - Bound to Glitter by Boundary) and C'Est Ma Souer.

One Angel Winner

All nine ran. One Angel (Bandini - Strawberry One by Truluck) opened at 1-9, and didn't go up much from there. Millionaire Monkey (The Green Monkey - Polka Dot Miss by Pentelicus) was 7-1. He looked good on the track. Milenario (Cowtown Cat - Pop I Top by Stephen Got Even) was a little wild, and I was liking Carlito's Beanie (Northern Afleet - Tango by Dance Brightly). Don Antonio (Mizzen Mast - Sophie's Salad by Rahy) was loaded sans jockey. Phar too Quick (Spensive - Phar Too Reckless by Pharisien (FR)) broke on top, but he was soon joined by Milenario, Pure Warrior (Pure Prize - Park View by Quiet American), and Don Antonio. Millionaire Monkey was at the back early. One Angel was in the second flight, but was starting to move up. Milenario and Phar Too Quick continued on top, but One Angel was coming. Also beginning to get involved was Carlito's Beanie. One Angel moved even with the frontrunners on the turn, and then eased to the lead. He rolled home to an easy win (in the replay, you can see that he outruns the camera). Milenario took second, with Carlito's Beanie third, and Special Warrior (Majestic Warrior - Special One by Point Given) fourth. Millionaire Money was 7th. There was an inquiry after the race (It seemed to involve the start. I really need to learn Spanish), but no change was made. It looked like Millionaire Monkey was squeezed a bit at the start.
