Beyond Winning

Only the AEs were left out, and the turf was firm. Bugle Call (Lemon Drop Kid - Clambake (IRE) by Grand Lodge) opened as the lukewarm favorite, but was the strong choice at post time. Get Me a Cocktail (Big Brown - Impressive Attire by Seeking the Gold) was almost 16-1. She looked kind of nice in the paddock. Queen of Heat (Bring the Heat - Albata by Home At Last) caught my eye, and I was liking J Jett (Bernstein - Lavigne by Dynaformer) on the track. Get Me a Cocktail was bumped a bit at the start, and D Fifty (Arch - Give Me Sugar by Elusive Quality) broke awkwardly. Holy Rosie (Stephen Got Even - Holy Class by Holy Bull) went to the front. Also showing speed were Queen of Heat and Go Go Gracie (Night Light (IRE) - Elle by Mr. Prospector). Holy Rosie went wide, allowing Queen of Heat to get closer. Payton's Wildcat (Margie's Wildcat - Miss Spygon by Sultry Song) checked badly, and lost many places. As they entered the stretch, Holy Rosie had had enough, and Queen of Heat took a short lead. But, challengers were coming. Closing best were J Jett on the rail, Beyond (Langfuhr - Eternity (GB) by Suave Dancer) on the outside, and Causemommasaidso (Whywhywhy - Indianhanna by Chief's Crown) between these two. At the finish it was Beyond by a nose over Causemommasaidso, with J Jett 3/4 of a length back in third. Best of the others was Lady Scatterley (Scat Daddy - Sidneys Angel Face by Skip Away), who took fourth. Get Me a Cocktail looked poised to make a move on the outside, but had no punch and finished 10th. Interestingly, the top four finishers were all coming out of the same race. Watch the Replay.

Showing Some Divine Ambition

Louie Villain (A. P. Indy - Pampered Princess by Indian Charlie) opened at 1-2, and was even money at post time. Senioritis (Big Brown - She's a Lively One by Lively One) was 13-1. He looked great in the paddock. But, when they went out on the track for the post parade, he reared, dumped his rider, took off, and was a late scratch. Louie Villain was rambunctious as well. Try a Lemon Drop (Lemon Drop Kid - Heart of Magic by Storm Cat) acted up before the load, and took some persuading to get in the gate. They finally were in, and off. Try a Lemon Drop swerved in just after the start, and unseated his jockey. Fine Leather (Corinthian - Elusive Natalie by Elusive Quality) went to the lead, chased by Divine Ambition (Divine Park - Window Woman by Skip Away). The latter horse made his move, and swept on by. He went on to win by an easy 8 lengths. Blue Blade (Bluegrass Cat - Well Revered by Red Ransom) was secure in second, with Lungs (Five Star Day - Ocean Salt by Salt Lake) and Old Brownsboro (Forestry - Cloud Rise by Buddha) making up some ground to take third and fourth. It was a wild race, but hopefully Divine Ambition's impressive win won't be lost in the shuffle. Divine Ambition is the fourth winner for Divine Park, and the first winner for jockey Juan Enriquez. Watch the Replay.
