A Lucky Star Winner

Exclusive Clara (Exclusive Quality - Clarabella by Claramount) was scratched, and the track was wet fast. Second Time (Pomeroy - Home Master by Homebuilder) was the heavy favorite. Classy and Serene (The Green Monkey - Time for Jackie by Unbridled Time) was 9-2. The start was good. Maura's Image (Hal's Image - Sweetest Dream by Sir Leon) and Hanna'sluckystar (Sarava - Kathy's Q. V. C. by Risen Star) were off best. But, they were soon joined by Classy and Serene and Second Time, and those two went by to set the early pace. Second Time established a clear lead in the stretch, But, Hanna'sluckystar and Maura's Image set after her. Hanna'sluckystar wore down the favorite late, to win by 3/4 length. Second Time just saved second by a head over Maura's Image. Freebie's Sister (Indy Wind - Honor n' Charm by Honor Grades) ran on late for fourth, Vaz Hope (Latent Heat - Obligatory by Belong to Me) was fifth, and Classy and Serene tired to 6th. The trainer of Maura's Image lodged an objection against the rider of Hanna'sluckystar, but the foul claim was disallowed. Second Time was claimed out of the race. Watch the Replay.

A Desert Strike

All nine ran on the Polytrack. In Todd We Trust (Tiznow - Horns Gray by Pass the Tab) was favored by just a bit over Desert Strike (Smart Strike - Yaqeen (GB) by Green Desert). Also taking money was Brickyard Kitten (Kitten's Joy - Brickyard Gal by Proud Citizen). Lunar Event (Awesome Again - Moon Catcher by Malibu Moon) hesitated a touch at the load. The start was good for most, except for In Todd We Trust, who was off slowly. Heat Press (Malibu Moon - Princess Birdeye by Indian Charlie) and Brickyard Kitten fought for the early lead. Just off of these were Desert Strike and Moon Back More (Fusaichi Pegasus - Girls Pearls by Talk Is Money). The next pair were Ghetto Prince (Forestry - Madeira M'dear by Black Tie Affair (IRE)) and Charming Charlie (Bwana Charlie - Swinging Maria by Maria's Mon). Brickyard Kitten and Heat Press continued to battle up front, with Desert Strike and Moon Back More watching them, and starting to move closer. Eben Zabeel (Medaglia d'Oro - Alluring by A.P. Indy) was beginning to come to life, picking up places on the inside. Desert Strike took a short lead. Heat Press stuck around for awhile, but then began to lose ground. Moon Back More made a run at Desert Strike, but couldn't catch him, and Desert Strike came home 3/4 lengths in front. Eben Zabeel took third over a weakened Heat Press, and In Todd We Trust had to settle for fifth after his slow start. Watch the Replay.
