Rosie Gonna Win

The race was taken off of the turf, and run instead at 1 1/16 miles on the sloppy main track. This allowed MTO Watrugonnadorosie (Curlin - Tears I Cry by Chester House) to run. She was 7-2. The other 4 left in the race were: Lenderoflastresort (Yes It's True - Pashmina by Pentelicus), who was favored, Winning Scoop (Bernardini - Scoop by Gone West), Bacheliere (Include - Golden Party by Seeking the Gold), and La Strada (Street Sense - Deputy Sue by Silver Deputy). Watrugonnadorosie and Lenderoflastresort broke best, with the latter filly going on to set the early pace. The rest of the pack caught up, with Winning Scoop claiming second. La Strada and Watrugonnadorosie were just behind her. Those four remained fairly tight together, as they moved into the turn. Watrugonnadorosie moved closer to Lenderoflastresort, and then went on by. She splashed home 2 1/4 lengths in front, and was not pressed late. Winning Scoop got up for second, leaving Lenderoflastresort behind by more than 6 lengths. Behind Lenderoflastresort came La Strada and Bacheliere. Watrugonnadorosie is winner number ten for Curlin. Flash Forward for Victory

The race was taken off of the turf, and run at 7 furlongs on the sloppy main track. Reef Road (Henrythenavigator - Cloakof Vagueness by El Prado (IRE)) was scratched, as well as Faceineveryflower (Giant's Causeway - Theverythoughtof U by Unbridled's Song), Johannesboom (Johannesburg - Chapena by Fusaichi Pegasus), Justcallmemoni (Exchange Rate - Ever Lasting by General Assembly), Samsonian (Broken Vow - Miss Louisiana by Miswaki), and Sandsarita (Street Boss - War Thief by Lord At War (ARG)). MTOs Cry Holy (Pure Prize - Trisha Runs by Sharkey), Regal Melody (Songandaprayer - Regal Approach by Thunder Gulch), and Nodebtdanny (Macho Uno - Estimation (GB) by Mark of Esteem (IRE)) got to run, as well as AE entrant Bo Derek (Rock Hard Ten - Perfect Pleasure by Aptitude). Love to Score (Even the Score - Love to Gamble by Brahms) was the lukewarm 3-1 choice, with Nodebtdanny also getting play. Flash Forward (Curlin - Magical Flash by Miswaki) was 7-1. She was getting blinkers on, and looked ready for action. I was liking Fuhrika (Langfuhr - Tarika by Cozzene) and Art of Bourbon (Artie Schiller - White Oak by Stravinsky) a bit on the track. The start was good, but Bo Derek was squeezed back shortly after beginning. Love to Score went to the lead, with Lemon Song (Lemon Drop Kid - I Sing by Lasting Approval) after her. Up close were Art of Bourbon, Cry Holy, and My Brown Eyed Baby (Full Mandate - Gentle Ridge by Bertrando). Starting to make up ground was Flash Forward. Love to Score was still leading, but Flash Forward was coming. She seemed like she would roll on by, but Love to Score was stubborn. Flash Forward finally got by late for a 3/4 length win. Love to Score was 4 3/4 lengths in front of Cry Holy in third, with Regal Melody taking 4th. Flash Forward is the 11th winner for Curlin, and his second one in the slop at Belmont on October 19. Rain God is Lucky 13

Better Value (Ad Valorem - Varmint Lady (IRE) by Orpen) was scratched. The All-weather track was standard as usual, and the weather was overcast. Tiger Stripes (Tiger Hill (IRE) - Tarkamara (IRE) by Medicean (GB)) was favored. Rain God (Henrythenavigator - Lotta Dancing by Alydar) was 7-1. He was adding blinkers for this start. Performance (Danehill Dancer (IRE) - Ahdaab by Rahy) held the early advantage, but Breccbennach (Oasis Dream (GB) - Next (GB) by In the Wings (GB)) and Rain God were right behind him. Minister of Mayhem (Sakhee's Secret (GB) - First Fantasy (GB) by Be My Chief) had to check early, and lost some spots. Performance continued to lead, but Rain God was sticking with him, and Tiger Stripes was looming on the outside. As the entered the stretch, Rain God hit the front. Tiger Stripes took a run at Rain God, but he couldn't catch him. In fact, Breccbannach outfinished him to steal second. Rain God is winner number 13 for Henrythenavigator.

Remember Then with the Win

All 8 ran on the Polytrack. Bold Kitten (Kitten's Joy - I'll Do More by More Than Ready) was favored by a tick over Propelleroneway (Malibu Moon - Catch the Blue Hat by Storm Cat). Also getting play was Remember Then (Pulpit - Owsley by Harlan). Blue Violet (Curlin - Gasia by Silver Deputy) was 10-1. Remember Then caught my eye in the paddock, and In Step Dancer (Student Council - Out of Step by Affirmed) looked good on the track. Blue Violet looked ready, but I was still liking Remember Then. The start was good. In Step Dancer broke on top, but Sue Me Baby (Unbridled's Song - Fortune Teller by Forestry) used her rail spot to snag the early lead. Bold Kitten was also right there. Miss Lamour (Mr. Greeley - Batique by Storm Cat) had a good spot in fourth watching the top three. Blue Violet trailed early. Sue Me Baby separated from the other 2 to take a short lead. But, Miss Lamour moved to the outside and bounded to the front. Starting to get involved were Remember Then and Propelleroneway. It was Remember Then going best, as she swept by Miss Lamour for a 1 1/2 length win. Miss Lamour was the same distance in front of Propelleroneway, who took third. It was a long way back (12.5 lengths) to Bold Kitten in fourth, followed by Blue Violet, Sue Me Baby, Souparion (Alphabet Soup - Arion by High Yield), and In Step Dancer. Watch the Replay.
