Where's Dominic? In the Winner's Circle

General Lee (Dixie Union - Sagamoon by Malibu Moon) and Just a Cat Dancing (Fantasticat - Brilliant Lass by Marine Brass) were scratched, and the track was fast. The entry of Four Pillars (Tale of the Cat - Darling Temper by Point Given) and Win Wire (Mr. Greeley - In the Ghetto by Hennessy) was favored. Where's Dominic (Midnight Lute - Woodflower by Woodman) was 10-1. I was liking Peeds in a Pod (Lion Heart - Endorse by Two Punch) in the paddock, and Make My Saturday (Any Given Saturday - Exciting Justice by Glitterman) made a favorable impression as they left that enclosure. Where's Dominic looked good warming up. I thought he might have a chance, if he could overcome the Midnight Lute tendency to break slowly. Hard to Handle (Hard Spun - Handlewoman by Elusive Quality) was slow to begin. Make My Saturday went to the front, along with Peeds in a Pod and Athabaskan Hero (Cherokee's Boy - Pretty Princess by Partner's Hero). Where's Dominic was away well, and in a good spot early. Peeds in a Pod and Athabaskan Hero set after Make My Saturday, and soon that rival retreated. Where's Dominic was making up ground. He swung wide for the stretch run, and rolled by the leaders. He shifted towards the rail, but he was well clear of his opponents, crossing the wire 5 1/2 lengths in front. Peeds in a Pod was clear in second, and Athabaskan Hero just held third over a closing It's My Perogative (Teuflesberg - Philosophers Stone by Meadowlake). Where's Dominic is the 5th winner for Midnight Lute. Watch the Replay.

The Fear of Winning

Rush In (Langfuhr - Alittlebitearly by Thunder Gulch) was scratched, leaving 7 on the Polytrack. Debuting Fear the Kitten (Kitten's Joy - Dynarhythm by Dynaformer) was favored. Fancy Henry (Henrythenavigator - Pete's Fancy by Peteski) was 24-1. I was liking Alimony Cobra (Stephen Got Even - Parmilla by Silver Deputy) at first look, although the favorite also looked good. Fancy Henry looked decent, and Tates Humor (Henny Hughes - Tates Queen by Distorted Humor) looked like he would show early speed. Fancy Henry was fractious in the starting gate, broke in the air, and was at the back early. Grand Mast (Mizzen Mast - Grandiosa by El Prado (IRE)) did not get off to the best start either. Alimony Cobra went to the front, with Tates Humor and Fear the Kitten just behind him. The opening fractions were slow, :25.57 and :52.14, and Tates Humor soon moved even with Alimony Cobra. Mounting a challenge was Greengrassofyoming (Quest - Flick by Dehere), who went by for a short lead, as Alimony Cobra weakened. Greengrassofyoming couldn't hold off the relentless Fear the Kitten, however, as that colt came on for a 3/4 length win. Greengrassofyoming was well-clear in second, and Grand Kuma (Kuma - Lady Offense by Lee's Badger) ran late to snatch third from Tates Humor. Fancy Henry never recovered from his bad start, finishing 7th (last). Fear the Kitten was claimed out of the race. Watch the Replay.
