Making Haste

The track was fast, and only the AEs were left out. Ocean Park (Divine Park - Ocean Sound by Pulpit) was the 5-2 favorite. Also getting some play was Boss Barney's Babe (Street Boss - Jezebella by Wild Again) at 7-2. Rich Chocolate (Big Brown - Rizzi Girl by Rizzi) was 6-1. A couple were off slowly, including Flashy Eyed Pearl (Flashy Bull - Beth's Brew by Storm Brewing), who lunged at the start, and Dancing Mona (Monarchos - Dancing Deb by High Yield). Boss Barney's Babe went to the lead, with Orland Flash (Flashy Bull - Black Olive by Secret Hello) and Little Norwegian (Pure Prize - Bobby's Babe by Smart Strike) in pursuit. Rich Chocolate had just a couple beat early, but was saving ground on the rail. Orland Flash moved up to put some pressure on Boss Barney's Babe, and then went by to take the lead in the stretch. Coming from way back was In Haste (Master Command - Funny Mood (ARG) by Equalize). She collared Orland Flash, and kicked away for a 1 3/4 win. Orland Flash was better than 6 in front of the others, with Rettalfa (Flatter - Bridge Edition by Editor's Note) and Boss Barney's Babe just a nose part in third and fourth. Rich Chocolate was never involved, finishing 9th. Interestingly, she was claimed out of the race for $50,000. I would not be surprised to see her on the turf next time. Watch the Replay.

Reyning David

All 6 ran on the fast track. Debuting Dangerous Pass (War Pass - Roman Trumpet by Grand Slam) was favored. Millionaire Monkey (The Green Monkey - Polka Dot Miss by Pentelicus) was 5-1. The start was good, Millionaire Monkey let the others go on, with Rey David (Rey de Cafe - Clever Princess by Clever Trick) leading the way. Mi Manito (Songandaprayer - Mocita by Boundary) pressed Rey David for a time, but then dropped back and appeared to be pulled up. The others moved into the picture, as Rey David continued on top. Millionaire Monkey was starting to get involved between horses, but it was Dangerous Pass who emerged from the pack to set after Rey David. Dangerous Pass seemed like he would run down his rival, but Rey David continued to hold him off. Rey David wasn't entirely straight late, but he kept clear of Dangerous Pass, winning by more than a length. It was several lengths back to Runaway Glory (Keyed Entry - Dependability by Runaway Groom), who was followed by El Bomberito (Good Reward - Prairie City by Carson City), and Millionaire Monkey.
