Chongo Verdi (colt; The Green Monkey - Tiz Spanish by Tiznow) finishing a decent third in Race 3 at Calder, a 6 furlong Starter Allowance, behind Piano Man Ted (Pomeroy - Darian Skye by Dance Master) and D'nied Permission (D'wildcat - Sanctioned by Maudlin). Rydilluc was Too Efficient

The turf was firm, and only the AEs and the MTOs were left out. Metro (Afleet Alex - Valid Goddess by Valid Appeal) was favored, A. M. Mayhem (Midnight Lute - Littlebitabling by Carson City) was 63-1. I liked Mr Beauregard (Discreet Cat - Mrs Williams (GER) by Monsun (GER)) at first glance, but the favorite looked good. Rapid Burn (Bernstein - She's Mahogany by Woodman) got a strong warmup. The start was good. Rydilluc (Medaglia d'Oro - Swift and Classy by Clever Trick) and Kenalantic (Stormy Atlantic - Kenathena by Cryptoclearance) went for the lead. Rapid Burn was up close as well, with favorite Metro tucked in behind. Kenalantic put his head in front, but Rydilluc was sticking with him. Metro and Rapid Burn were still there, and Efficient Market (Tapit - Salty Response by Cozzene) started making up some ground. As they moved into the stretch, Rydilluc shook from the competition, and spurted away for an easy 4 1/2 length win. Efficient Market just got up for second by a head over Rapid Burn, with Mr Beauregard picking up fourth over a weakened Metro. A. M. Mayhem trailed for most of the race, passing a acouple late to finish 8th. Watch the Replay.

Living Lively

Well Heeled (Unbridled's Song - High Heeled Hope by Salt Lake) was scratched, leaving 9 on the fast track. Sawyers Trustylady (Indian Charlie - Trusty Lady by Deputy Minister) took the early money, but Cubicle Queen (Salute the Sarge - Wonderful by Olympio) was favored at post time. Zaza (Midnight Lute - Bay Barrister by Miswaki) was 45-1, and Fortyshadesofgreen (The Green Monkey - Truly Loved by Yes It's True) was 59-1. I was liking first-timer Lady Banks (Successful Appeal - House of Soviet's by Housebuster) a bit, and Live Lively (Medaglia d'Oro - Glacken's Gal by Smoke Glacken) looked good in the paddock. Zaza was bucking and kicking as they went to the track, and continued to act up in the warmup. Fortyshadesofgreen hesitated at the load, and Zaza was reluctant to enter the gate. Lady Banks was squeezed back a bit at the start. Cubicle Queen raced to the lead. Sawyers Trustylady and Dear to All (Tale of the Cat - Double Devils Food by Devil His Due) chased after her. Fortyshadesofgreen was near the back, with only Zaza behind her. Cubicle Queen continued on top with Sawyers Trustylady and Dear to All in pursuit, but Live Lively was beginning to gain. Also making up some ground was Lady Banks. Cubicle Queen still had the lead in the stretch, but she couldn't hold off the troops. Live Lively, Lady Banks, and Dear to All all went by her, with Live Lively getting the win by 3/4 lengths over Lady Banks, and Dear to All taking third. Cubicle Queen was fourth, followed by Sawyers Trustylady, Zaza, Madre Ditutticapi (Street Boss - Jack's Touch by Touch Gold), and Fortyshadesofgreen. Lady Banks is definitely one to watch for next time, but she will probably be a very short price. Watch the Replay.
