Bustin to Victory

Light Weight (J Be K - Candleglow by Carson City) was scratched, leaving 10 on the fast track. Riptherubberoff (Scat Daddy - Slamyuincourt by Grand Slam) was favored, and Quit Smokin (Smoke Glacken - Kewland by Dixieland Band) also took some play. Curlin N Twirlin (Curlin - Bluff for Bluff by Pine Bluff) was 9-2. Quit Smokin, Riptherubberoff, and Acrobatic Tactic (Hook and Ladder - Thetactics Ofdance by Tactical Advantage) battled early, although the first 7 were in pretty close order. Curlin N Twirlin was included in this bunch. Quit Smokin and Riptherubberoff put some distance on the others. But then, the complexion of the race changed, as Curlin N Twirlin, Keep Bustin (Bustin Stones - Shuffle the Deck by High Yield), and Group Therapy (Freud - Unbridled Valor by Unbridled) pounced on the leaders. It was first-timer Keep Bustin finishing best on the inside, holding off Curlin N Twirlin by 3/4 length. Curlin N Twirlin was 2 lengths better than Group Therapy, with favorite Riptherubberoff settling for fourth. Keep Bustin is the 6th winner for Bustin Stones. Watch the Replay.

Peeds in a Pod Win Together

The track was fast. Barakeh (Fairbanks - Reina Terra by Blushing Groom (FR)) and Wooden Match (Latent Heat - Golden Lake by Salt Lake) were scratched. Peeds in a Pod (Lion Heart - Endorse by Two Punch), making his 8th start, was favored. Harrythenavigator (Henrythenavigator - Confidentially by Saratoga Six) was just under 3-1. He looked good in the prelims. Peeds in a Pod broke best, and went to the front. Harrythenavigator bumped his neighbor at the start. Georgetown Burning (Ye It's True - Kitty Knight by Capote) and Another Seven (Partner's Hero - Dontforgethedealer by Line In The Sand) chased after Peeds in a Pod. Harrythenavigator was wide, but was starting to make up some ground. Peeds in a Pod began to lengthen his lead. Harrythenavigator was still way outside, but was gaining. He was very green, and on his wrong lead for much of the stretch, but he kept on running. There was no catching Peeds in a Pod, who came home 4 lengths in front, but Harrythenavigator was 5 better than the others, who were led by Georgetown Burning and Katie's Posse (Posse - Katie's Love by Not For Love).   Watch the Replay.

My Favorite Win

Freedom Sings (Proud Citizen - Dana's Wedding by Compliance) was scratched, and the track was fast. The entry of Current Event (Curlin - Grand Merger by A.P. Indy) and Raven Rise (Raven's Pass - Top of the Class by Deputy Minister) was favored. Current Event was off slowly, and spotted the field a couple of lengths. There was a bit of a tussle for the early lead. A Prettydixie (Dixie Union - A. P. Test by A. P. Indy) grabbed it, and Raven Rise took after her, with Joy Seeker (Heatseeker (IRE) - Joyjoyjoy by Smart Strike) and Legally Bay (Read the Footnotes - Try N Sue by Sir Harry Lewis) not far behind. Legally Bay soon retreated, but the remaining three led the others by a good 8 lengths. Starting to make up some ground from the back was My Favorite Two (E Dubai - Sydney's Lexington by Outofthebox). As they rounded the turn, A Prettydixie, Raven Rise, and Joy Seeker were still heads apart, and there was still a sizable gap back to My Favorite Two. But, she was rolling as they entered the stretch, and the leading trio was tiring. My Favorite Two hit the front easily. She pulled herself up a bit after getting the lead, and was going wide, but was still 1 1/2 lengths in front. A Prettydixie finished well to hold second over Joy Seeker and Raven Rise. Current Event was never much involved after her poor start, but she did pass a couple, finishing 5th. Watch the Replay.

A Devil of a Triumph

Whistle My Way (Horse Greeley - Whistle Salute by Honour and Glory) was scratched, and the turf was firm. Devil's Cave (Put It Back - Wabash Gal by Jungle Express) was favored, and Never Touch a Star (Henrythenavigator - Mekko Hokte by Holy Bull) was 4-1. Double Reverse (Purge - Danube by Green Desert) and Never Touch a Star were off slowly. The others were away well, although with some bumping. It was longshot Shenton Park (Speightstown - Ruby Park by Bold Ruckus) who pulled free to lead the pack, pursued by Indian Spell (Indian Charlie - Proud Spell by Proud Citizen) with Devil's Cave starting to get involved. Shenton Park continued running freely on the lead. Indian Spell, Devil's Care, and Happy Voyage (Malibu Moon - Lipstick Sunset by Maria's Mon) were all after her, and appearing on the scene was Lemonsrgoodongrass (Lemon Drop Kid - Going Low by War Chant). It was Devil's Cave that got up late to snag the victory by 3/4 length over Shenton Park, who just held off Happy Voyage. Lemonsrgoodongrass was fourth, followed by Billboard Babe (Johannesburg - Downtown Blues by Seattle Song), and Indian Spell, who weakened late. Never Touch a Star finished 7th after her tardy beginning. Watch the Replay.
