Absolutely

The track was fast, and all 8 ran. Absolute Beauty (Big Brown - Absolute Magic by Unbridled) was favored, and Rockin Mandy (Bustin Stones - Mandy Mack by Native Prospector) was given a good chance. Desert Traveler (Desert Warrior - Movin Along by D'Accord) stumbled at the start, the others were away well. Off best was Rockin Mandy, but Warm Heart (Lion Heart - Shakopee by Evansville Slew), Absolute Beauty, and You Take the Cake (Midas Eyes - Madison's Angel by Silver Ghost) were all showing speed. As they went into the turn, Absolute Beauty had her head in front. Still right with her were Warm Heart and Rockin Mandy, as You Take the Cake dropped back. Absolute Beauty began to pull away from her rivals. She continued to increase her lead in the stretch, coming home 5 3/4 lengths in front. Warm Heart took second with Pumpkin Lane (Midas Eyes - Trust in Gold by Golden Missile) gaining some late to take third over Rockin Mandy. Absolute Beauty is the 16th winner for Big Brown. Smitten with this Filly

There were no scratches for the contest over the fast track. Smitten (Tapit - Hi Lili by Silver Deputy) was the heavy favorite. Blue Violet (Curlin - Gasia by Silver Deputy) was 10-1, Tipsy At Midnight (Midnight Lute - Tipsy Girl by Raise a Cup) was 12-1, and Fairness (Curlin - No Fair by War Chant) was 27-1. Cora Mesa (Sky Mesa - Old Fashion Girl by Arch) hit the gate before the start, which caused her to break awkwardly, and she trailed early. Sanctissima (Indian Charlie - Beautiful Treasure by Unbridled), Tipsy At Midnight, and Tizexx (Speightstown - Tizsweet by Cee's Tizzy) went for the lead. It was Sanctissima who grabbed it, chased by Tipsy At Midnight. Jockey Richard Eramia tried to rein in Sanctissima a bit. Tipsy At Midnight made her move, and put her head in front. But, Blue Violet and Smitten were both gaining. Smitten took the lead on the outside. Blue Violet had the rail, and kept running, but she couldn't catch the favorite, finishing a length behind in second. It was seven lengths back to the rest of the strung-out field. Cora Mesa took third, followed by Santissima, Tipsy At Midnight, Tizexx, and Fairness. A nice win for Smitten, but also a nice run for Blue Violet. She looks to be improving with every start. Quite Entertaining

Hope Rules (Sky Mesa - Fun Crowd by Easy Goer) was scratched, and the track was fast. Seven Stars (Indygo Shiner - Crafty Queen by Crafty Prospector) was favored, with Voodoo Tales (Tale of the Cat - Coverly by Saint Ballado) also getting play. Myperfectvalentine (Curlin - Netherland (ARG) by Roy) was 20-1. Let Me Entertain U (Nobiz Like Shobiz - Take the Cake by Fly So Free) stumbled out of the gate, and Voodoo Tales sped to the lead. Seven Stars and Myperfectvalentine took after her. Myperfectvalentine couldn't keep pace, but Let Me Entertain U, having recovered from her poor start, and Industrial Policy (Harlan's Holiday - Copa de Oro by Coronado's Quest) came on to join Seven Stars. Moving into the turn, Let Me Entertain U got closer to Voodoo Tales, and then rolled on by. She left the others behind, winning by 6 lengths at almost 22-1. Industrial Policy took second, and it was 5 lengths back to Seven Stars (Indygo Shiner - Crafty Queen by Crafty Prospector) in third. She was followed by La Strada (Street Sense - Deputy Sue by Silver Deputy), Myperfectvalentine, and Voodoo Tales, who finished noses apart in 4th, 5th, and 6th. Let Me Entertain U is the 6th winner for Nobiz Like Shobiz. Watch the Replay.

The Taste of Winning

The turf was firm, and there were no scratches. Misdeed (Rock Hard Ten - Miss Dahlia by Strawberry Road (AUS)) was the clear choice of the bettors. Syndicated (Midnight Lute - Letithappencaptain by Captain Bodgit) was 15-1. There was a battle for the early lead, with Nuestra Senor (Leroidesanimaux - L'Hiver (CHI) by Hussonet), Cinco de Mario (Candy Ride (ARG) - Sweet and Clever by Mr. Greeley), Syndicated, and Misdeed all going for it. Nuestra Senor took advantage of his inside post to claim the advantage, but Cinco de Mario rushed up to join him. Also still right there was Misdeed. Cinco de Mario took the lead, and sprinted away from the field. Wild Student (Student Council - Chenoa by Wild Again) made a move into second, Dice Flavor (Scat Daddy - Afleet Summer by Afleet) was starting to get involved, and Gentleman Pete (Awesome Gambler - Sinceyouwentaway by Dynaformer) was making a run as well. Dice Flavor moved up the rail and took the lead, and rolled home 2 1/4 lengths in front. Gentlemen Pete finished well for second, with Kings Giant (Giant's Causeway - Myhrr by Mr. Prospector) on the scene late for third. Wild Student checked in in fourth, followed by Syndicated, Cinco de Mario, Misdeed, and Nuestra Senor. This was definitely not a race for frontrunners. Watch the Replay.

Covering the Winner

All 9 ran on the Tapeta. Another Flashback (Curlin - Flashy by Wild Again) was favored. Papercoversrock (Trapper - Mad River Magic by General Meeting) broke slowly, giving the others a head start. Suncadia (Tiznow - August Storm by Storm Creek) went to the front, and was soon several lengths ahead. Her closest pursuers were Resisting Arrest (Kafwain - Rector's Lady by Pulpit), Une Amour (Singletary - M'Love by Mi Cielo), and Rebecca's Surprise (Marino Marini - Violet Brook by Montbrook). Another Flashback was mid-pack early. Suncadia continued to lead. The pursuing back was not making up ground. One that was starting to run on from the back of the pack was Papercoversrock, who was wide, but gaining. She continued to come on, passed Suncadia in the lane, and won by 3 lengths. It was a very impressive debut for Papercoversrock. Suncadia was clear in second over firster Sweet Tess (Afleet Alex - Eye Catching by Alydar), who was coming on late. Another Flashback didn't threaten the top trio, taking fourth. Watch the Replay.

I always thought Big Brown was a good horse, no matter how much his trainer and owner were dissed by the public (racing and otherwise).  Now it appears he may be a useful stud (or even better).

I thought Jay Eye See looked very professional in this race.  Was all business, went to the lead and kept on going.  In his other 3 starts I thought he ran very greenly, costing him a better placing.
