Eye on the Prize

There were no scratches, and the track was fast. Debuting Oistin's Town (Speightstown - Tweedside by Thunder Gulch) was even money choice. Jay Eye See (Curlin - England's Rose by Nureyev) was almost 5-1, but he looked good in the preliminaries. Charming Charlie (Bwana Charlie - Swinging Maria by Maria's Mon) stumbled at the start. Do You Smell Smoke (Smoke Glacken - Honora Helen by Bianconi) broke on top, but Jay Eye See was right there as well. Also involved early were Grey Oak (Exchange - Vintage Champagne by A.P. Indy) and Rickashea (Elusive Quality - Rachel's Star by Seeking the Gold). Jay Eye See went by to set the pace, but Do You Smell Smoke was still close, and Chief Falco (Falco - Alascaline (IRE) by Anabaa) was starting to move up. Jay Eye See continued on top, and as they entered the stretch, he began to pull away from the others. He rolled home, crossing the wire 7 1/4 lengths in front. Longshot Tizrobertcharles (Bwana Charlie - Tiz Gold by Prospect Bay) came on late to get second, with Do You Smell Smoke just holding off Chief Falco for third. Favorite Oistin's Town was never involved, finishing 10th. Watch the Replay.
