Stakes Result

Amerigo Vespucci (colt; Henrythenavigator - Senza Paura by Fly Till Dawn) finished 3rd in the Jerome Stakes (gr. II) at Aqueduct. He was no match for the top pair of Vyjack (Into Mischief - Life Happened by Stravinsky) and Siete de Oros (A. P. Warrior - Crafty Sarah by Crafty Friend), who finished a head apart in a fantastic finish, but graded stakes-placed looks good on the resume. Amerigo Vespucci has now run 5 times, with 2 wins, 2 seconds, 1 third, and earnings of $104,460. Watch the Replay. Read more about the Jerome here.

Eton Blue Winner

The track was fast for the 10. Eton Blue (Giant's Causeway - Bird Town by Cape Town) was the 2-1 favorite. Air Squadron (Curlin - Air France by French Deputy) was 5-2, and Dyker Beach (Curlin - Favorite Feather by Capote) was 18-1. Pontiff (Giant's Causeway - Preach by Mr. Prospector) stumbled at the start, the others were away well. Hard to Handle (Hard Spun - Handlewoman by Elusive Quality) and Eton Blue went for the early lead, and were soon joined by Subsonic (Malibu Moon - Voyage by Rahy). Air Squadron was in the second flight, and Dyker Beach was near the back. Hard to Handle and Subsonic battled up front, with Eton Blue sitting just off of them. Air Squadron moved up with him, and Dyker Beach was beginning to gain. Hard to Handle surged to a clear lead in the stretch, but Eton Blue, Air Squadron, and Dyker Beach were all moving well. The went by Hard to Handle as a group, with Eton Blue 1/2 length in front of Dyker Beach, who was 1/2 length in front of Air Squadron. Air Squadron's jockey claimed foul against Dyker Beach for interference in the stretch. It was disallowed. Air Squadron did have to steady, but it looked from the replay like he caused his own problems. Regardless, both Curlin colts delivered promising performances. Watch the Replay.

Looking Pretty Cool

The track was fast, and all 9 ran. Moro Tap (Tapit - Ghost Dancing by Silver Ghost) was favored. Wabbajack (Midnight Lute - Fast and Early by Carson City) was 6-1, and The Best Monkey (The Green Monkey - Dandy Dulce by Dixieland Heat) was 34-1. He looked ready for action, and he broke on top to set the early pace. Wabbajack was chasing The Best Monkey early, along with Pirate's Grip (Mr. Greeley - Renaissance Lady by A.P. Indy) and Looking Cool (Candy Ride (ARG) - Coolwind by Forest Wildcat). Wabbajack got shuffled back a bit, as The Best Monkey continued on top. Looking Cool moved even with him on the turn, and then went by. Coming on was Doherty (Giant's Causweay - Highclere Memory by Cryptoclearance), and he set after Looking Cool, as The Best Monkey began to retreat. Wabbajack was showing renewed interest, to gain on the top pair. Looking Cool continued to hold off Doherty throughout the stretch, finishing 1/2 length in front of his rival. Wabbajack finished 3/4 lengths back in third, a nice run for him. The Best Monkey was 6th after his early action. Watch the Replay.
