On Top with Curly

Starzilla (Rock Hard Ten - Topliner by Thunder Gulch) was scratched, allowing AE entrant Moreno (Ghostzapper - Danceinthesunlight by A.P. Indy) to run. Footbridge (Street Cry (IRE) - Thousand Islands (GB) by Dubai Millennium (GB)) was favored. Also getting a lot of attention from the bettors was Forest Boy (Forestry - Belvedere Miss by Pleasant Colony). Curly Top (Curlin - Top Notch Lady by Sultry Song) was 9-2, and Syndicated (Midnight Lute - Letithappencaptain by Captain Bodgit) was 55-1. Forest Boy looked good. Coastal Breeze (Empire Maker - Dive by Storm Cat) was a bit rambunctious. Both Curly Top and Syndicated looked ready for action, and Colburn (Heatseeker (IRE) - Go Ask Daisy by Mutakddim) was a little interesting. Syndicated was sent to the lead, but couldn't quite get there, and instead assumed a pressing position behind Footbridge. Curly Top kept his rail position, and was just off the leaders. Footbridge and Syndicated continued 1-2, with Curly Top and Forest Boy getting closer. Footbridge maintained a seemingly easy lead. Curly Top abandoned his rail spot to take a stab at the leader. Syndicated was still sticking in there in third. Curly Top kept coming and coming, and got by Footbridge for a 3/4 length win. Syndicated held well for third, with Colburn making up some ground to take fourth. A nice win for Curly Top, but also a much-improved result for Syndicated. Both colts seemed to enjoy the switch to dirt. Watch the Replay.

Boustierre Shows Some Grit

All 10 ran on the fast track. Sanaaya (Smart Strike - Spun Sugar by Awesome Again) was favored, Ethela (Henrythenavigator - Ethel Anna by Storm Cat) was 6-1. I liked the look of Adonica (Afleet Alex - La Porta by Distorted Humor) on the track. Ethela seemed a little keyed up. The favorite made a good impression. Ethela was squeezed at the start. Wine Glow (Tiznow - Cool Storm by Storm Cat) went for the lead, with Born to Jazz (Student Council - Guard Dance by Fools Dance) after her. Graceful Rage (Tiznow - Counterpoise by Storm Cat) was showing speed as well. Sitting just off of the frontrunners was Grit and Grace (Tapit - High Heels by E Dubai). She moved closer, as Graceful Rage began to retreat. Making a move on the outside was Sanaaya. As they entered the stretch, Grit and Grace took the lead by a couple of lengths. Sanaaya was trying to gain. Then, rolling on the outside came first-timer Boustierre (Empire Maker - Chaminade by Danzig). She went by everyone, for a 1/2 length win over Grit and Grace. Sanaaya had to settle for third, with Mary Bernice (Bernardini - Coronation Cup by Chief's Crown) back in fourth. Ethela never really got involved after her poor start, finishing 10th (last). Being Invasive

Commander Cody (Master Command - Ardmore Prospect by Allen's Prospect) was scratched, leaving 10 on the fast track. Waldo (Rockport Harbor - Dixie Time by Dixieland Band) was favored, and Brenda's Bar (Midnight Lute - Les Cocos by Honour and Glory) was just under 5-2. The start was good, with Clone (Fusaichi Pegasus - Skyladysky by Sky Classic) hesitating a bit. There was a scramble for the early lead, with Rocky's High (High Brite - Rockville Tizzy by Cee's Tizzy), Take a Knee (Kafwain - Glory N Thehighest by Valid Wager), and Frank N Johnny (Any Given Saturday - Proper Dance by Nureryev) leading the quest. Brenda's Bar was near the back in the early stages. Frank N Johnny, Rocky's High, and Take a Knee continued to battle. Turning Tables (Eurosilver - Ecstasy Lady by Blare of Trumpets) was starting to get involved. Take a Knee took a clear lead in the stretch. Turning Tables was running on, and coming on strong was Invasive Cocktail (Invasor (ARG) - Champagne Cocktail by Red Ransom). He wore down Take a Knee late, getting up for a neck victory. Turning Tables was back in third, with Clone closing for fourth. Brenda's Bar passed a few late to finish 7th. Watch the Replay.
