Transport to Victory

I'm in Cat (Bluegrass Cat - Fire of Freedom by Street Cry (IRE)), Claude Monet (Johar - Pepita by Vicar), Lifes Reward (Tapit - Pearly Beach by Tiznow), and Ration (Arch - Quota by Seeking the Gold) were scratched, allowing Ground Transport (Big Brown - Extry by Broad Brush) to get in the race off of the MTO list, and he was made the lukewarm 2-1 favorite. The track was fast. Ground Transport was off well, but was wide on account of his outside post. Pegasus Flyer (Fusaichi Pegasus - The Ag by Bahri) went to the front, hounded by Gunderson (Corinthian - Stormy Sunday by Sir Cat). Ground Transport was tracking this pair in third. Gunderson took the lead as they entered the turn, but Ground Transport was still right there. Also getting closer were Wings of Fortune (Fusaichi Pegasus - Fortune Queen by Lear Fan) and Hard Aces (Hard Spun - All in With Aces by Quiet American). Ground Transport moved even with Gunderson, and then slowly pulled away from him. He crosssed the line 1 1/2 lengths in front. Smooth Stone (Giant's Causeway - Misty Mission by Miswaki) came up the inside to grab second, and Gunderson was back in third. Wings of Fortune and Hard Aces competed the top 5. Watch the Replay.

Let Em Shine

All seven ran on the fast track. Let Em Shine (Songandaprayer - Justaspell by Johannesburg) was the clear favorite. Govenor Charlie (Midnight Lute - Silverbulletway by Storm Cat) was 3-1. He made a good pre-race appearance, but was off a little slowly. Dead Easy (Eddington - Stormy Playmate by Sky Classic) was also slow to begin. Let Em Shine went right to the front. He was chased by Salutos Amigos (Salute the Sarge - Sarasota (ARG) by Luhuk) and Remind Mee (Peace Rules - Ice Girl by Devil On Ice). Govenor Charlie began to make up some ground on the inside. Let Em Shine was rolling up front, setting fractions of :21.00 and :43.23, and continued to lengthen his lead. Salutos Amigos continued to chase Let Em Shine, but he didn't have much impact. Let Em Shine went on to score a 7 1/2 length win. Govenor Charlie and Dead Easy both finished well, overtaking Salutos Amigos to finish 2nd and 3rd. Watch the Replay.

Jubliant Girl (filly; Henrythenavigator - Gamely Girl by Arch) was involved from the start in Race 6 at Santa Anita, an Allowance/Optional Claiming Race at 6.5 furlongs on the downhill turf course, and pulled clear in the stretch to win by 2 3/4 lengths, despite showing some greeness. Moulin de Mougin (filly; Curlin - Cambiocorsa by Avenue of Flags) finished 4th, but just a nose and a neck from second. Watch the Replay. Jubliant Girl is now a perfect 2 for 2, with earnings of $63,000.

Palace Malice (Curlin - Palace Rumor by Royal Anthem) made a good return to the races in Race 1 at Gulfstream Park, a 7 furlong Allowance/Optional Claiming Race, but he couldn't catch Majestic Hussar (Majestic Warrior - Distorted Blaze by Distorted Humor), who won by 2 1/4 lengths. Palace Malice should improve off of this 2nd-place finish. Jay Eye See (Curlin - England's Rose by Nureyev) finished a disappointing 7th, and may not have handled the sloppy track.  Watch the Replay.

The Pink Monkey (filly; The Green Monkey - Senorina Valentina by Flying Victor) set most of the pace in Race 2 at Parx Racing, a 5.5 furlong Maiden Claiming Race (Claiming Price $10,000), but finished third. Milwaukee Blitz (Milwaukee Brew - Miss Attractive by Running Stag) took the race by 1 1/4 lengths. Watch the Replay.
