Brown Almighty (colt; Big Brown - Gone Goodbye by Gone for Real) was wide in the Smarty Jones Stakes, and seemed to lack punch late, finishing 5th. According to his twitter feed, Brown Almighty was discovered to have a lung infection after the race. Hopefully, he'll be back soon. The winner of the Smarty Jones was Will Take Charge (Unbridled's Song - Take Charge Lady by Dehere), who came between Texas Bling (Too Much Bling - Anythingmore by Country Pine) and Always in a Tiz (Tiznow - Calendar Girl by Elusive Quality) to get the victory by a neck. Watch the Replay. Pretty Hot Win

The race was taken off the turf, which resulted in the scratching of Crazy Lucky (Henny Hughes - Hidden Assets by Mt. Livermore) and Magic Vixen (Tapit - Honour Colony by Honour and Glory). MTO entrant Give Her Space (Divine Park - Amber Room by Tactical Cat) drew into the race, and was made the favorite. Fairness (Curlin - No Fair by War Chant) was 22-1. Firster Franky and Jane (Heart of the Storm - Galina by Running Stag) was restless in the gate. Prettyhotprincess (Stormy Atlantic - Nijinskys Princess by Gulch) broke on top. Give Her Space and Vesper Lynd (Henny Hughes - Cuando Quiere by Affirmed) set after her. The pack was fairly well bunched. Fairness had a good spot on the rail, sitting in fourth. Prettyhotprincess continued to lead, with Give Her Space applying pressure. Fairness seemed poised to come through on the rail, but lacked room. Prettyhotprincess was still on top. Giver Her Space kept up the chase, but couldn't catch her, as Prettyhotprincess went on to win by 3/4 lengths. Giver Her Space was another 3/4 length in front of Distinct Sparkle (With Distinction - Constant Sparkle by Mr. Sparkles), who finished a neck better than Fairness. It was a much-improved effort from the latter filly. Watch the Replay.
