Preponderate is Chasing the Roses for the Balance of Power

January 23 Result

No Restraint

Only AEs Hoke's Run (Littleexpectations - Tense Exchange by Red Ransom) and Klozer (Private Vow - Harbor Chief by Boston Harbor) were left out, and the track was fast. Sweetwhiskeybrown (Capitalimprovement - La Vita's Infinity by Timeless Native) was favored. Also getting plenty of play was Prior Restraint (Doneraile Court - Notrestraintable by Belek). Kiss My Monkey (The Green Monkey - Smoochem by Friendly Lover) was 37-1. I liked the look of first timer Yonadixie (Yonaguska - Shes Dixies Eskimo by Eskimo), but favorite Sweetwhiskeybrown and Six K Vow (Private Vow - Winning Lady by Boyish Charm) made favorable impressions. Yonadixie acted up at the load. It was a sharp break for Prior Restraint, and he went up to set the pace. Six K Vow and Sir Realist (Serengeti Song - Buckley by State Dinner) applied some pressure, and Sweetwhiskeybrown was just off the leaders. As they went into the turn, Prior Restraint opened up by several lengths. Sir Realist and Six K Vow were still the closest competition. This pair moved closer as they entered the stretch, but Prior Restraint surged ahead once more. He went on to win by 3 lengths. Sir Realist outfought Six K Vow for second, and they were better than 3 lengths in front of fourth-place finisher Sweetwhiskeybrown. Kiss My Monkey plodded along at the back, finishing 9th.
