Kimberly Jean Looking Keen

There were no scratches, and the track was fast. Brilliant Jewel (A.P. Indy - Sapphire n' Silk by Pleasant Tap) was the heavy favorite. She was a little rambunctious in the paddock. Both Oasis At Midnight (Midnight Lute - Per Se by Deputy Commander) and Midnight Sweetie (Midnight Lute - Sweet Breanna by Sahm) were close to 50-1. I preferred Oasis At Midnight on looks. Plenty O'Toole (Tiznow - O' Toole by Distorted Humor) looked good to me. Oasis At Midnight was a bit reluctant to load, Midnight Sweetie went in like an old pro. Dowager (A.P. Indy - Marietta by Machiavellian) acted up a bit at the load, and Broomsage (Include - Elsoma by Tri Jet) went in riderless. The start was good. Oasis At Midnight went to the front, but Dowager was right with her. Brilliant Jewel and Kimberly Jean (More Than Ready - Grey Song by Unbridled's Song) were together, just a few lengths behind the leaders. Midnight Sweetie was many lengths last in the early stages. Dowager took a clear lead as they entered the turn. Oasis At Midnight began to retreat, as both Kimberly Jean and Brilliant Jewel advanced. Kimberly Jean made the first move, getting in front as they entered the stretch. She went on to post a 1 3/4 length win. It was close for second, with Dowager getting that spot by a nose over Brilliant Jewel. It was 7 lengths back to Oasis At Midnight, not a bad debut for her. Midnight Sweetie beat one after her slow beginning, finishing 8th. Watch the Replay.
