No Shrinking Violet

Phonybooksnrecords (Tapit - True Addiction by Yes It's True) was scratched, and the track was fast. Blue Violet (Curlin - Gasia by Silver Deputy) was favored, and World Class (Curlin - Highest Class by Mineshaft) was 11-1. There was a big scramble for the early lead, with only Cora Mesa (Sky Mesa - Old Fashion Girl by Arch) backing off. World Class took the worst of it, forced very wide. When the dust cleared, Brenda's Gold (Scat Daddy - Obviously by Touch Gold) was in front, with Blue Violet and World Class with her. Blue Violet continued to hassle Brenda's Gold. Blue Violet took a short lead, but World Class and Cora Mesa were right there. But, as they moved into the stretch, Blue Violet found another gear. She romped home, crossing the line 9 1/4 lengths in front. Cora Mesa checked in in second, with Brenda's Gold third, and World Class fourth. Not a bad effort for World Class, who was wide for most of the race. Blue Violet now has one win and 2 seconds in 6 starts, with earnings of $40,851. Watch the Replay.

The Winning Presence

Trust in Tebow (Ministers Wild Cat - Bless Idbyour Name by Valid Wager) was a late scratch, leaving 8 on the Tapeta. Irish Presence (Midnight Lute - Proper Form by Deputy Minister) was favored. Anita Marie (Thisnearlywasmine - Dee Dee's Princess by Cryptoclearance) was first to show, with Tribal Dress (Tribal Rule - Sunday Dress by General Meeting) up front as well. Irish Presence was not off to the swiftest beginning, but she was allowed to settle near the back. Tribal Dress put her head in front. Anita Marie hung in for awhile, but then began to retreat. Coming on was Kissy Kitty (Grey Memo - Kissy Kat by Peyrano (ARG)). Irish Presence was starting to pick off her rivals. Kissy Kitty went through on the inside for a short lead, but Irish Presence was rolling, and went on by. The trip up north was just what Irish Presence needed, as she cruised home 5 1/2 lengths in front. Tribal Dress got back in front of Kissy Kitty for second, with Kissy Kitty third. Watch the Replay.

With Acclaim

There were no scratches, and the track was fast. Acclaim (Tiz Wonderful - Miss Elusive by Elusive Quality) was the 2-1 favorite, and Ocean City (Giant's Causeway - Yarico's Pond (IRE) by Seattle Slew) was 7-2. May Day Cash (Midnight Lute - May Day Bluff by Pine Bluff) was 28-1. Acclaim broke on top, but Ocean City rushed through on the rail to take the lead. Acclaim assumed a pressing position. May Day Cash was also showing some speed, along with Ruble (Exchange Rate - Silent Street by Street Cry (IRE)). Acclaim moved even with Ocean City on the turn, and then left him behind. Ruble went after Acclaim. Acclaim drifted out in the stretch, allowing Ruble to draw close. But, Acclaim was still 1/2 length ahead at the wire, despite drifting especially badly late. It was more than 12 lengths back to the others, led by Gorgui (Bellamy Road - In Excelcis Deo by Forty Niner), Doc Cebu (Hard Spun -Berga by Jade Hunter), and Sevenoaks (Mizzen Mast - Arboreta by Empire Maker). May Dash Cash tired after showing some speed, finishing 9th (last). Watch the Replay.

The Winning Quest

Conquestor (Broken Vow - Runaway in Love by Runaway Groom) and Hard to Handle (Hard Spun - Handlewoman by Elusive Quality) were scratched. The track was fast for the remaining 8. Monarch Maker (Empire Maker - Ship's Cat by Forest Wildcat) was favored, and Personal Delivery (Big Brown - Majestic Empress by Empire Maker) was 9-1. Rockin Rowan (Bernstein - Miss Mambo by Kingmambo) shot out of the gate to take the early lead. He had a gang of pursuers, including Night Warden (First Defence - Euphonize by Seattle Slew), Monarch Maker, Personal Delivery, and Indian Nobility (Indian Charlie - People's Princess by Meadowlake). Rockin Rowan continued to show the way, with Monarch Maker and Indian Nobility putting the heat on. To the Stars (Street Sense - Fly to the Stars by Giant's Causeway) made a move up the rail, and coming on the outside was Finn's Quest (Giant's Causeway - Questress by Seeking the Gold). Rockin Rowan was still leading late, but both To the Stars and Finn's Quest got by him. Those two finished together, with Finn's Quest getting his head down in front. Personal Delivery had no punch late, finishing 6th. Interestingly, the three experienced horses finished 1-2-3. Watch the Replay.

Rowdy Friends (Henrythenavigator - King Shooting Star by Storm Cat) was 31-1, and Love Tractor (The Green Monkey - Soft as Velvet by Run Softly) was 63-1. St. Borealis (War Chant - Saintly Bride by Saint Ballado) took advantage of her rail spot to take the early lead. Reina Diamante set after her, with first-timer Cash Is Queen (Unbridled's Song - Cash's Girl by Northern Afleet) also showing early interest. Cash Is Queen came through on the inside as they entered the stretch, but Reina Diamante was right there too. Cash Is Queen held her off, however, winning by 1 1/4 lengths. Reina Diamante was more than 2 in front of Abbazaba (Candy Ride (ARG) - Queen Dido by Thunder Gulch), who just got her head in front of  St. Borealis. Uptown Gal (Don't Get Mad - Great Goin Rose by Albert the Great), and Lemon Chiller (Artie Schiller - Lemon Pop Lassie by Lemon Drop Kid) were just a couple necks behind these. Rowdy Friends and Love Tractor finished 8th and 9th, 1/2 length apart. Watch the Replay.
