The Winning Code

Secret Union (Dixie Union - Barney's Mistress by Dynaformer) was scratched, leaving only 4 on the good track. There was no show betting. Girl Code (Teuflesberg - Code Satan by Lost Code) was favored, and Sylvia T (Curlin - Brisquette by Unbridled's Song) was just under 3-1. The start was good, with Girl Code, Lady of Gold (Medaglia d'Oro - Ron's Lady by Elhayq (IRE)), and Justoneatheguys (Corinthian - Always A Star (IRE) by Danehill) battling early. Sylvia T had a good spot on the rail just behind these. Girl Code soon took the lead, with Justoneatheguys her closest competition. Girl Code left Justoneatheguys behind, as both Lady of Gold and Sylvia T went by that rival. Girl Code was cruising on top, and she crossed the wire 5 lengths in front, despite being geared down late. Sylvia T wore down Lady of Gold for the second spot, with Justonetheguys bringing up the rear. Watch the Replay.

Arriving in Front

Thurmont (Bob and John - She Shines by Polish Numbers) was scratched, and the track was fast for the remaining 6. Game Effort (Midnight Lute - Glory Lane by Unbridled's Song) was the heavy favorite. The start was good. Arrive (Street Boss - Dream Out Loud by Stravinsky) was the first to show. He was soon passed by Savings N Loan (Purge - Sahmkindawonderful by Sahm) and Tru Greek (Greek Sun - Capote's Niner by Capote). Game Effort was at the back early. The pace was slow, :24.62, :48.57, and Arrive soon went back to the front. Game Effort made up a little ground, but seemed uncomfortable on the inside. Up front, Riot Act (Awesome Again - Wicked Sting by Devil His Due) and Savings N Loan were chasing Arrive. Meanwhile, Game Effort was shuffled to the back again. Arrive continued to lead. Making a run in the middle of the track was Tru Greek. He continued to gain on Arrive, but that one had too much of a lead, keeping his neck in front at the line. Game Effort finally made some headway late, taking third. I really don't think he liked being boxed in, needed to get outside to stretch those long legs. Watch the Replay.
