Coming Up Rosie

Myperfectvalentine (Curlin - Netherland (ARG) by Roy) was scratched. High Inflation (Touch Gold - Unreined by Unbridled) was favored, and Melody Lin (Curlin - Melody Que (IRE) by Sadler's Wells) was 9-1. The track was fast. Fuhrika (Langfuhr - Tarika by Cozzene) stumbled a bit at the start. Taylor Jagger (Studen Council - Arboresque by Cure the Blues) and Pure Afleet (Afleet Alex - Pure Charm by Storm Cat) were a little slow out of the gate. High Inflation went to the lead, pursued by Chartier (Toccet - Lydia Louise by Southern Halo) and Fuhrika. Al's Rosie (Harlan's Holiday - Cuscowilla by Notebook) had a nice spot on the rail in fourth, flanked by Stick to Your Guns (Awesome Again - El Bank Robber by Eltish), and these two were followed by Melody Lin. High Inflation continued to lead them followed by Fuhrika. Melody Lin tried to make a move, but was stuck in traffic. Meanwhile, Al's Rosie came through on the rail to challenge High Inflation. She slipped on through for a 1/2 length win. Chartier also overcame High Inflation late to take second. Melody Lin was flying once she finally cleared the traffic, and finished fourth, just a head behind High Inflation. A better trip should get her a win next time. Pure Afleet was eased late, but walked off the track. Watch the Replay. Al's Rosie's win was the 2000th career win for trainer Gary Contessa. Read more about his accomplishment here.
