Go Go Gadget

Liz Lemon (El Corredor - Delil by Dehere) was scratched, along with the AEs. The turf was firm. Gadget Girl (More Than Ready - Rough Water by Stormin Fever) was the slim favorite over Abbey Street (Street Boss - Moyne Abbey by Charismatic). Never Touch a Star (Henrythenavigator - Mekko Hokte by Holy Bull) was 12-1. Firster Rejoiceful (Corinthian - Ethan's Car by Cat Thief) hopped in the air at the start, and fellow-debuter Chippette (Purge - Chippi by Trippi) was off a beat slow. Gadget Girl sprung to the lead, and the others were away well. Gadget Girl couldn't quite clear the field, and Downtown Girl (City Zip - Beautiful Moment by Crusader Sword) came up the rail to join her. They were followed by a four-horse mob consisting of So Royal (Chapel Royal - So True by Lord At War (ARG)), Distortion (Distorted Humor - Misty Rosette by Stormin Fever), Never Touch a Star, and Beezy Street (Lawyer Ron - Pondering by Storm Cat). In the stretch, Gadget Girl shook free from Downtown Girl, and went on to post a 2 3/4 length win. Abbey Street came on to secure second by a comfortable margin, and Downtown Girl held off Little Trickster (Sharp Humor - Miss What a Day by Miswaki) for third. Never Touch a Star weakened late, finishing 8th. Watch the Replay.

Down the Middle

All twelve ran on the firm turf. Sweet Mike (Sweet Return (GB) - Thunderous Waves by Stormy Atlantic) was the 5-2 favorite. Middleburg (Lemon Drop Kid - Rum Charger (IRE) by Spectrum (IRE)) also took a fair amount of money. Souper Knight (Midnight Lute - Secret Liaison by Housebuster) was 35-1, and The Best Monkey (The Green Monkey - Dandy Dulce by Dixieland Heat) was almost 75-1. Souper Knight was off slowly. Sweet Mike emerged with the lead from his rail position. Tactical Moment (Tale of the Cat - Ellie's Moment by Kris S.) was his closest pursuer. Also near were Middleburg, Freeride (Master Command - A Real Lady by Real Quiet), The Best Monkey, and Kiton (Bernardini - Casanova Storm by Storm Cat). Sweet Mike continued on top, with Tactical Moment, The Best Monkey, and Middleburg chasing. Balthazar (Red Giant - Dina Gold by Seeking the Gold) began to make up ground on the outside. Sweet Mike still had the lead as they entered the stretch, but Middleburg was swung out to make his run. He rolled on by the pacesetter, and pulled away for a 2-length win. Sprinting home was Balthazar, who picked up second. Also motoring late was Batten the Hatches (Stormy Atlantic - Masada by Pleasant Tap), who took third over the weakened pacesetter Sweet Mike. The Best Monkey finished 7th after his early involvement. I would love to seem him sprint on the turf. Souper Knight never really got going after his tardy start, finishing 11th. Watch the Replay.
