Born to Win

All ten ran on the muddy track. Born to Jazz (Student Council - Guard Dance by Fools Dance) was favored, Magical Flute (Midnight Lute - Dahlia Dearest by A. P. Indy) was 5-1. Magical Flute broke on top, but was compromised by her outside post. Havasu Falls (Lewis Michael - Grand Ogygia by Ogygian) was also quick to begin, and she held the early lead over Battle Creek Lady (Cowtown Cat - Fighting Jet by Copelan) and Blushing Touch (Street Boss - Saphiria by Touch Gold). Magical Flute was close, but still wide. Blushing Touch claimed the lead over Havasu Falls, as Battle Creek Lady began to fade. Havasu Falls was still up close in second. Magical Flute and Born to Jazz gained on the outside. This pair surged by Blushing Touch, and battled to the wire, finishing well off the rail. At the conclusion, it was Born to Jazz by a neck over Magical Flute, who gave a good account of herself on debut. Coming on late was firster Rosie My Rosie (Purge - Rosie's Ransom by Marquetry), who outfinished fellow-debuter Moneygrabber (Awesome Again - Lasting Appeal by A.P. Indy) for third. Magical Flute was claimed out of the race, as was third-place finisher Rosie My Rosie. Watch the Replay.
