Midnight Rider (Midnight Lute - Ma Kitty by Meadowlake) and her entrymate Charade (Malibu Moon - Phoenicia by Mr Purple) were 2-1. The start was good. There was a scramble for the lead. Midnight Rider held the early advantage, but she had company from Dream Softly (Corinthian - Dream Street by Tale of the Cat), In Kelly's Defense, and Tragedy's Triumph (With Distinction - Apache Dancer by Alphabet Soup). Dream Softly stuck her head in front as they entered the turn, but In Kelly's Defense and Midnight Rider were still with her. In the stretch, In Kelly's Defense built up a clear lead. But, on the outside, both Super Divine (Divine Park - Ghazo by Ghazi) and Tragedy's Triumph were coming. They swept by the favorite, with Super Divine finishing best for a 1/2 length win. In Kelly's Defense held third, and Heaven's Saint (Langfuhr - Saint Sammi by Saint Ballado) was along for fourth. Midnight Rider tired, finishing 7th. Watch the Replay.
