Game, Set, and Match for Kara

All seven ran on the fast track. Saturday Nthe Park (Any Given Saturday - Golden Knolls by Seeking the Gold) was favored. Kara's Match Point (Curlin - Home Court by Storm Cat) was just under 3-1, down considerably from her morning line of 12-1. She looked good on the track before the race. Kara's Match Point and Saturday Nthe Park bumped at the start. Turboencabulator (Pleasant Tap - Littlebigthing by Unbridled's Song) broke on top, but she was soon passed by a couple, including Saturday Nthe Park, who took the lead. Gold Lady (Elusive Quality - Princess Mitterand by Seattle Slew) and Madre Ditutticapi (Street Boss - Jack's Touch by Touch Gold) assumed pressing positions alongside the leader. Kara's Match Point seemed to have recovered from her bump, and was starting to make progress on the rail. Madre Ditutticapi moved up to challenge Saturday Nthe Park, as the field began to bunch up, with only Sky River (Henny Hughes - Alaska Queen by Time for a Change) out of it. Kara's Match Point was moved off the rail for her assault on the frontrunners. She seemed to lose a little ground, but then came on again, wearing down Saturday Nthe Park for a 3/4 length win. Masasi (More Than Ready - Meadow Oaks by Meadowlake) ran well late to take third, as Madre Ditutticapi weakened to fourth, followed by Turboencabulator, Sky River, and Gold Lady. Watch the Replay.

The Winning Companion

There were no scratches, and the track was fast. Harrythenavigator (Henrythenavigator - Confidentially by Saratoga Six) was favored, and looked the part in the post parade. Aim to Win (Songandaprayer - Vee Cee Dancing by Pulpit), Caribou King (Rock Slide - Hannerly by Dancing Count), Pass the Tap (Pleasant Tap - Lyrical Prayer by The Minstrel), and Indian Companion (Forest Danger - Hail Ho Silver by Silver Deputy) went for the early lead. But, Indian Companion soon backed off and let the others dispute it. Aim to Win had his head in front for a time, but was joined by Caribou King on the inside, as Pass the Tap watched this duel from third. Indian Companion and Photogenic (Fantasticat - Belle of Claxton by Devil His Due) were the next pair, with Harrythenavigator near the back. Aim to Win began to retreat. Caribou King hung around for a bit longer, but then was passed by Pass the Tap. Pass the Tap led as they entered the stretch, but Indian Companion and Harrythenavigator were both coming. Indian Companion drove to the lead, drifted out a bit, but crossed the line 3 1/4 lengths in front. Harrythenavigator was no match for Indian Companion, but got his neck in front of Pass The Tap for second. Hopefully, Harrythenavigator will stay on the dirt, as he seems to prefer that surface.
