The Queen of the Turf

Country Concert (Candy Ride (ARG) - Theme Song by Dixieland Band) was the only scratch, and the turf was firm. Riverboat Queen (English Channel - Queen's Court by Monarchos) was the even-money favorite. Winner's Legacy (Midnight Lute - Very Very by Royal Academy) was 7-1. Treqqer (Cape Cross (IRE) - Lady's Quest by Rainbow Quest) came out of the gate very slowly. Finura (Dixie Union - City Sister by Carson City) and Bricks and Clicks (Belgravia - Maggies Storm by Stormy Atlantic) went for the early lead. Riverboat Queen watched them from third. These three put a little distance on the others. Bricks and Clicks held the lead as they entered the turn, but Finura was still with her, and Riverboat Queen continued to track. Winner's Legacy was beginning to make some progress on the rail. As they entered the stretch, the three front runners were in a line. Riverboat Queen, however, had the momentum, and she rolled to the front. She went on to score a 3 1/2-length victory. Finura held second, and Winner's Legacy grabbed third late. In fourth was Zadina (Malibu Moon - Royal Cheer by Royal Anthem), as Bricks and Clicks tired to fifth. Watch the Replay.
