Two-Year-Old Result

Pablo Del Monte is a Solitary Winner

Filly Hearsay Social (He's Crafty - Billie Bob by Bring the Heat) was scratched. She'll run Thursday at Keeneland instead. The remaining part of the Wesley Ward trained entry, Pablo Del Monte (Giant's Causeway - One Hot Wish by Bring the Heat), was made the favorite. He sprang out of the gate, and took the early lead. Solitary Ranger (U S Ranger - Galileo's Star by Lil E. Tee) set after Pablo Del Monte, with the others in a bunch several lengths behind. Pablo Del Monte and Solitary Ranger continued 1-2, with Indigo Diamond emerging from the pack to take third. Pablo Del Monte seemed a tad reluctant to switch leads. Once he did, he left the others behind, winning by 5 lengths. Solitary Ranger kept second by a length over Indigo Diamond, with Alsono (Limehouse - Miss Blue Grass by St. Jovite) making up some ground to take fourth. Wesley Ward showed again why he is king of two-year-olds at Keeneland. Meanwhile, First-crop sire U S Ranger is off to a promising start, with his first two runners finishing 2nd and 3rd. Three-Year-Old Result

One Sweet Win

The turf was yielding. Backintheacademy (Put It Back - Summer School by Royal Academy), Misty North (Night Light (IRE) - Misty Gallop by Victory Gallop), and AE entrant Sheza Trip (Good Journey - Run Kaitlyn Run by Rio's Lark) were scratched. Topic (Discreet Cat - Quiet Maggy by Quiet American) was favored, and Another Flashback (Curlin - Flashy by Wild Again) was 5-1. The start was good. Another Flashback was showing speed, as well as Blue Blizzard (Marino Marini - Excessive Cindi by In Excess (IRE)). It was the latter filly who set the pace, chased by Another Flashback and Taffeta Disaster (Unusual Heat - Fleet Sparrow by Cozzene). Taffeta Disaster went a little wide on the turn, forcing Topic out. Blue Blizzard continued to show the way, with Another Flashback in pursuit. Peppery (Peppered Cat - Prochonic by Tychonic (GB)) made up some ground on the inside, with Harlan's Sweetie (Harlan's Holiday - Sierra Sweetie by Old Topper) gaining as well. Another Flashback moved by Blue Blizzard in the stretch, but Topic and Harlan's Sweetie were both making runs. Harlan's Sweetie had the momentum on the outside, pulling away for a 2-length win. Topic just nipped Another Flashback for second, as that filly had to settle for third. It was 5 lengths back to pacesetter Blue Blizzard in fourth. Another Flashback has now run 9 times, with 3 seconds, 3 thirds, and earnings of $41,178. Watch the Replay.

Does Cary Grant have any connection to Dunkirk?  Or was Judy Judy Judy only named for her dam, Notable Legend?

Just wondering, as usual, about how horses get named.

Mz - I don't have any insight into the naming of Judy Judy Judy, but I can't find a connection between Dunkirk and Cary Grant. You are probably right about the dam. Interestingly, there was a 1972 Judy Judy Judy. Wonder if that one had a Cary Grant connection.

At least the track announcer can have some fun with the name.

How the heck does one pronounce "Thmoruplathlesupay"?  Considering her family, this might become very important if she ever figures out how to run and starts in stakes.

Mz - That one took me a little while, it's "The more you play the less you pay." Not sure what it means, however.
