Knit One Win Too

Ms. Echogenic (Hear No Evil - Ms. Riskay by General Royal) and Inspired Say Eye (Two Punch - Let's Coast by Cozzene) were scratched, and the track was fast. Venice Queen (Latent Heat - Running Creek by Cape Town) was favored, and one race veteran New Zone (Wilko - Profit Zone by Meadowlake) was well-respected as well. I was liking her in the paddock. Tizgale (Stormy Atlantic - Tizthen by Tiznow) was a little feisty, and then when they got to the track, she dumped her rider and took off. She was a late scratch. Sagamore Racing, which owns Tizgale, tweeted after the race that she was fine and will try again another day. I was liking Corsetiere (Old Fashioned - Very Fast Lady by Mr. Greeley) on the track. O Reeley (Freud - She's Got a Way by Louis Quatorze) was shuffled back soon after the start. Knit One Purr Too (Tale of the Cat - Luxuriously by Danzig) went to the lead. She was chased by New Zone, with Venice Queen and Minowa Shadow (Jump Start - Grand Idea by Catienus) back in third and fourth. New Zone took a run at Knit One Purr Too, but the latter filly sprinted away again. She kept her advantage throughout, despite shifting out a bit at the finish, and crossed the line 3 1/2 lengths in front. New Zone did not maintain the straightest course, but she was safe in second. Venice Queen just held off Corsetiere by a nose for third, followed by Minowa Shadow and O Reeley. Watch the Replay.

Mary At the Winner's Circle

Bluesville (Bring the Heat - Porticipation by Include) was scratched, leaving 10 on the Polytrack. E Built This City (City Zip - E Looe by Lure) took the early money, but the Wesley Ward-trained Mary At the Cove (Brother Derek - Don't Do Lunch by Montbrook) was favored at post time. She had some spring in her step. Mad Princess (Artie Schiller - Anita Madden by Arch) looked good to me, and I was liking Lightning Angel (Stormy Atlantic - Fly Away Angel by Skip Away) a bit. Streethomealabama (Street Sense - Servalina by A.P. Indy) hopped at the start. Mary At the Cove went to the front, with E Built This City in pursuit. Mad Princess and Lightning Angel were just off the top pair. Lightning Angel and E Built This City took runs at Mary At the Cove as they came out of the turn, but Mary At the Cove repulsed them. She came home 2 1/4 lengths ahead. Lightning Angel finished well, securing second, and E Built This City just held off Streethomealabama for third. Streethomealabama should be one to watch next time after her slow start. Watch the Replay.

The Leader

The race was run on the firm turf, so MTO Wabbajack (Midnight Lute - Fast and Early by Carson City) was left out. Also scratched was Doc Cebu (Hard Spun -Berga by Jade Hunter). Ghareeb (Tapit - Rite Moment by Vicar) was favored, and Inmyfathersimage (Curlin - Friendly Michelle by Artax) was 9-1. I was liking Ella's Kitten (Kitten's Joy - Anura (IRE) by Giant's Causeway) on the track. Tapulous (Tapit - Indian Halo by Halo) was restless, and first-timer Nobel Laureate (Empire Maker - Adorable and Smart by Gulch) reared in the gate before the start. Tapulous sped to the lead followed by a rank Lead Singer (Unbridled's Song - Miss Lodi by Mr. Greeley). The next two were longshot Fastinov (Bop - Cordesian by Lear Fan) and four-year-old Bernie's Best (Posse - Haddie by You and I). Inmyfathersimage was at the back. Tapulous continued running free on the lead, building up a several length advantage. Nobel Laureate and Bernie's Best both made moves on the turn, but as they headed into the stretch, it was Lead Singer who surged to the lead. He left the others behind, recording a 3-length win. Bernie's Best was a clear second, and Tapulous held third. Ghareeb and Ella's Kitten finished a neck apart in 4th and 5th, and Inmyfathersimage ended up 6th. He may be returning to the dirt after this performance. Watch the Replay.
