The Winning Equation

All seven ran, and the track was fast. E Equalsmcsquared (Einstein (BRZ) - Prairie Spring by Conquistador Cielo) was favored, and she looked the part. Also getting plenty of attention from the bettors was Mula Me (Mula Gula - It's All About Me by Silver Ghost). The start was good, although Impossebul Speed (Silver Train - Call the Posse by Posse) was out a little slowly. Witt's Rule (Drums of Thunder - My Irish Doll by Irish Open) went to the front, chased by E Equalsmcsquared. They had several lengths on the rest of the field, which was led by Mula Me, Seems Legit (My Pal Charlie - Dancehall Deelites by Afternoon Deelites), and Witt's Trick (Drums of Thunder - Stinger Lea by Twilight Agenda). E Equalsmcsquared went a bit wide on the turn, but surged by the pacesetter. She rolled home, passing the line 7 3/4 lengths in front. Witt's Rule tired late, but held second over Honor Lisabeth (Magic Cat - Evening Starlet by Monarchos), who finished nicely. She was followed by Mula Me, Witt's Trick, Impossebul Speed, and Seems Legit, who retreated to the back after showing some early interest. E Equalsmcsquared is the only runner so far for Einstein, and his first winner. Watch the Replay.

Preakness Results

Mylute (Midnight Lute - Stage Stop by Valid Expectations) ran another good race in the Preakness Stakes (gr. I), closing to finish third, just over 2 lengths behind winner Oxbow. Watch the Replay. Mylute was the only horse that was able to make up ground late. Govenor Charlie (Midnight Lute - Silverbulletway by Storm Cat) showed his inexperience, never really getting involved after a tardy start, finishing 8th. As the Preakness was only his fourth start, we'll excuse Govenor Charlie and look for him next time. At this time, it doesn't look as though either colt will contest the Belmont Stakes. However, Palace Malice (Curlin - Palace Rumor by Royal Anthem) is pointing toward that race.
