News and Notes

For those who might have missed the update, I wanted to repeat the good news about Shock Hazard (Dunkirk - Treetop Shock by Forestry), who went over the rail in his race Saturday at Prairie Meadows. Prairie Meadows reported that he got up under his own power, and trotted off. The horse ambulance was not needed. Presumably, he is a bit sore, but no serious injuries were apparent.

Congratulations to Maiden Watch graduate Midnight Aria (Midnight Lute - Shebandowana by Mt. Magazine), who won the Queen's Plate at Woodbine on July 7. Watch the Replay.

Bellarada Shows Some Zip

Gangster Chick (Bring the Heat - Judy by the Lake by Lake Austin) was scratched, leaving 8 on the Polytrack. In Tall Cotton (Bellamy Road - Dynadoll by Dynaformer) was 2-1. Bellarada (Rockport Harbor - Temporada by Summer Squall), Zibby Do (Pioneerof the Nile - Fanfest (GB) by Fantastic Light), and Zes T Cat (Bluegrass Cat - Tables Turned by Petionville) were all around 4-1. Dramatize (Cowboy Cal - Tu Tu Larue by Theatrical (IRE)) acted up at the load. The start was good, although Lil Miss Moxie (Shaniko - Floy by Petionville) was a little slow to begin. Zibby Do broke well, but Bellarada grabbed the lead from her rail spot. In Tall Cotton and Zibby Do set after her, with Zes T Cat not too far behind. Bellarada continued to lead, pressed by In Tall Cotton. Zibby Do was still close in third. Bellarada stretched out her advantage late, crossing the wire 2 3/4 lengths in front. In Tall Cotton held second over Zibby Do, who finished well. Misty Castle (Cashel Castle - Stone of Silver by Astro) ran evenly in fourth, with Lil Miss Moxie fifth. They were followed by Zes T Cat, Dramatize, and Littlebitofsense (Street Sense - Awesome Alexandra by Awesome Again). Watch the Replay. Interestingly, Pioneerof the Nile's 5 runners have made 6 starts, and finished first, second, or third in every start.

A Logistical Run

There were no scratches, and the track was fast. Solemnly Swear (Yes It's True - Sala de Oro by Expelled) was favored, and debuting Run for Logistics (Bernstein - Shiner's Sister by Mr. Greeley) was also well-regarded. The start was good. Amelia's Wild Ride (D'wildcat - Amelia Island by Hook and Ladder) broke best, but Run for Logistics went by to set the pace. Amelia's Wild Ride chased after him, and he was joined by Pontos (Tale of the Cat - Winning Chance by Alphabet Soup). This trio put a few lengths on the others, who were led by Nauset Beach (Scat Daddy - Outstanding Info by Tactical Advantage) and Solemnly Swear. Run for Logics continued on top, Pontos moved up to apply some pressure. Amelia's Wild Ride was sticking close, and Solemnly Swear moved closer. In the stretch, Run for Logistics began to move away. He ended up a 5 1/2-length winner. It was close for second, with Pontos getting his head in front of Amelia's Wild Ride. Solemnly Swear continued on in fourth, followed by Alex Inc (Afleet Alex - Topeka by American Chance). Watch the Replay.
