What an Adventure

Dance Tap (Tapit - Game Show by Deputy Minister) was scratched, and the track was fast for the remaining 4. Ari the Adventurer (Pioneerof the Nile - Wild Catseye by Forest Wildcat) was 1-9. I liked the look of Sky Crew (Sky Mesa - Carson City Babe by Carson City), but Ari the Adventurer looked best on the track. Cosi Celeste (Bernardini - Colonial Ally by Pleasant Colony) was slow to start. Lochan (Flatter - Miss I. Q. by Honor Grades) broke on top, but she was soon passed by Ari the Adventurer. Sky Crew went by Lochan to apply some pressure to Ari the Adventurer. But, the latter filly was running easily on the front end, and she pulled away in the stretch to win by an impressive 6 3/4 lengths. Lochan took second over Sky Crew, who was on the wrong lead for much of the stretch. Cosi Celeste never made it out of fourth, but she did gain some on the others. Although Ari the Adventurer only beat three, the way that she won had twitter abuzz afterwards. Ari the Adventurer is the 3rd winner for Pioneerof the Nile, whose 6 runners have finished in the top 3 in all of their starts. Watch the Replay.

Sweet Success

Ten ran on the Tapeta, including the entry of Sweetsoutherndame (Colonel John - Southbound by Southern Image) and Miss Woodburn (First Defence - Zamindarling by Zamindar), which was favored. Firster Summer in Bali (In Summation - Bali Silver by Open Forum) caught my eye, and Mrs. Asher (Successful Appeal - Mary Dunn by Exchange Rate) looked good. Sweetsoutherndame looked ready as they loaded, but Marea Roja (Unbridled's Image - Ocala Girl by Concorde's Tune) was less than thrilled with the proceedings. Summer in Bali broke in, bumping Mrs. Asher. Marea Roja and the two entrymates went after the early lead. Miss Woodburn moved by to be the pacesetter, with Marea Roja, Sweetsoutherndame, and Summer in Bali chasing. Summer in Bali went by Miss Woodburn on the outside, and led the way as they entered the stretch. But, Sweetsoutherndame was hitting her best stride. She rolled on by Summer in Bali, and went on to record a 5 3/4-length win. Cactus Kris (Cactus Ridge - Highest Ground by Lemon Drop Kid) closed nicely to nip Summer in Bali for second, and Mrs. Asher also finished well in fourth. Sweetsoutherndame is the third winner for Colonel John. Watch the Replay.
