An Emotional Win

There were no scratches on the All-Weather track. Likelihood (Mizzen Mast - Light Jig (GB) by Danehill) was favored, Placidia (Sea The Stars (IRE) - Palmeraie by Lear Fan) was one of the longshots. She was away slowly. Queenie's Home (Shamardal - Nolas Lolly (IRE) by Lomitas (GB)) went to the front. Chasing her were Dance Bid (Authorized (GB) - Dancing Fire by Dayjur) and Tender Emotion (Pivotal (GB) - Silca's Sister (GB) by Inchinor (GB)), with Manderley (Clodovil (IRE) - Three Days in May (GB) by Cadeaux Genereux (GB)) not far off. Queenie's Home continued to lead them, as Dance Bid faded. Making up some ground was Likelihood. In the final furlong, Tender Emotion took control. Likelihood made a run at her, but came up 1/2 length short. She was followed by Manderley, who ran evenly late, Gratzie (Three Valleys - La Gazzetta (IRE) by Rossini), who found her best stride late, and a weakened Queenie's Home. Placidia didn't make much headway after her slow start, but persevered to finish 8th.

Seems Like Old Times

There were no scratches, and the track was fast. Southside Drive (Dunkirk - Adam's Time by Gilded Time) opened as the favorite, and took more and more of the action as post time approached. He was a bit reluctant to load. His delay caused Ninja Prospector (Cape Canaveral - Bountiful by Royal Academy) and Firecracker Day (Any Given Saturday - Sparkles Plenty by Toccet) to act up in the gate. Firecracker Day and Lagrein (Good Reward - Classic Beth by Regal Classic) bumped at the start. Southside Drive was away well, but Ninja Prospector got to the front first. Southside Drive and Queen of Magic (Magoo's Magic - Pillow Queen by Feu d'Enfer) went after him. For Old Times Sake (Old Fashioned - Sweet Carolina by Deputy Minister) began making up ground. Southside Drive and Ninja Prospector were head-to-head as they entered the stretch. Southside Drive got the better of Ninja Prospector, but For Old Times Sake swept by on the outside for a length victory. Southside Drive was 4 1/2 in front of a weakened Ninja Prospector. He was followed by Dr. Zing (He's Deeliteful - Sampo's Fool by Honorable Hero), Queen of Magic, Firecracker Day, Lagrein, and Joe Kid (Baseball Card Kid - Miss Klamath by Native Slew). For Old Times Sake is the third winner for Old Fashioned.

Squeaky Shoe Takes the Prize

All eight ran on the fast track. Out of Exile (Notional - Stormy Senorita by Storm Boot) was favored, and Gunkirk (Dunkirk - Jazzmane by Toccet) was almost 25-1, but he looked good in the paddock. Red Invader (Mr. Greeley - Real Concern by Concern) caught my eye, and Samarasqueakyshoes (Rockport Harbor - Cool Corredor by El Corredor) had some bounce in her step. The start was good. She's Original (Cape Canaveral - Another Lovelysong by Slewdledo) went to the lead. She was joined by Samarasqueakyshoes. King Kona (The Green Monkey - Teagan's Girl by Tiger Ridge) was just off this pair in third. There was soon a gap to the others, who were led by Lucky Pal (Alex's Pal - Kitty Condo by Lion Cavern). The fillies battled on the lead into the stretch, but then Samarasqueakyshoes began to pull free. She went on to post a 1 1/4 length win. King Kona just nipped She's Original for the place spot. It was 2 3/4 lengths back to Lucky Pal in fourth. He was followed by favorite Out of Exile, Red Invader, Rosavita (Kiridashi - Questelavita by Siphon (BRZ)), and Gunkirk. Watch the Replay.
