Light Up Those Cigars, Havana is a Winner

Financial Mogul (Street Boss - Trav n' Kris by Snow Chief) was scratched, which allowed AE entrant Roberto Gato (Zensational - Cat News by Storm Cat) to run. The track was fast. Havana (Dunkirk - Missy Turtle by Kyle's Our Man) was the heavy favorite, and he looked the part. Roberto Gato was a little reluctant to load. Kowboy King (Kodiak Kowboy - Kivi by King of Kings (IRE)) was slow to start. Havana went right to the front, and Kendall's Boy (Sky Mesa - Golden Damsel by Gold Token) set after him. Chomsky (Distorted Humor - Meerkat Miss by Giant's Causeway) had a good spot on the rail not too far off the leader, and Roberto Gato came up to grab fourth. Havana continued to lead them, with Kendall's Boy tracking. It looked as though Kendell's Boy might mount a serious challenge, but he couldn't catch Havana. In the end, Havana increased his advantage, crossing the line 2 3/4 lengths in front. Kendall's Boy was a clear second, 4 1/4 lengths in front of third-place Chomsky. It was better than 6 lengths back to the others, who were led by Mischieviously (Indian Charlie - Illicit by Mr. Prospector) and Kowboy King. The final time of 1:02.64 was just .13 off the track record. Watch the Replay. Havana is the fifth winner for Dunkirk.
