Ghaawy Overtakes Devilment

Filosofo (Teofilo (IRE) - Think (FR) by Marchand de Sable) was scratched, and the going was good. Ghaawy (Teofilo (IRE) - Asawer (IRE) by Darshaan (GB)) was favored, and Devilment (Cape Cross (IRE) - Mischief Making by Lemon Drop Kid) was also well-respected. El Najmm (Sea The Stars (IRE) - My Dubai (IRE) by Dubai Millennium (GB)) was 7-1. Danz Star (Ad Valorem - Await (IRE) by Peintre Celebre) was away a bit slowly. Ghaawy broke well, but Devilment went up to set the pace. El Najmm was mid-pack early. Devilment continued to lead, pressed by Ghaawy. El Najmm was beginning make up some ground. In the stretch, Ghaawy pushed by Devilment, going on to post a 1 1/4-length win. Devilment held second, and a length behind came El Najmm, who turned in a promising debut in finishing third. It was 7 lengths back to the others, who were led by Charlie Wells (High Chaparral (IRE) - Numbers Game (GB) by Rainbow Quest).
