She's No Lemon

There were no scratches, as all 12 fillies ran on the Polytrack. First-timer Easy Chair (Tiznow - Maple Syrple by American Chance) was favored, but the experienced Lemon de Oro (Lemon Drop Kid - Estrella de Oro (GB) by Belong to Me) was also getting plenty of attention. She looked very good to me. Emma Lushka (Pioneerof the Nile - Legendary Stacey by Include) was 35-1. She made a decent appearance, maybe a little on edge. Longshot Darby Doll (D'wildcat - Silver Shannon by Pentelicus) caught my eye. Emma Lushka took the lead out of the gate, but she was soon joined and passed by Lemon de Oro. Emma Lushka kept the rail spot while running second. These two continued 1-2 for a time, but then Party Now (Tiznow - Search Party by Seeking the Gold) took over second as they entered the turn. Emma Lushka stayed up there for awhile, but then began to retreat. Party Now took after Lemon de Oro, and this pair began to move away from the others. Party Now appeared like she might catch Lemon de Oro, but the latter filly kept her at bay. She didn't move away from Party Now, but neither could Party Now close the gap. At the wire, it was Lemon de Oro by 3/4 length. It was 6 lengths back to Lelanda (Bernardini - Motivated Sreva by Lear Fan) and Tiz Windy (Tiznow - Windyindy by A.P. Indy), who finished a neck apart in 3rd and 4th. Emma Lushka tired after her early action, finishing 11th. Watch the Replay.

Pretty nice run for Rankhasprivileges. He doesn't appear to be a big horse and still won a decent MSW even with jumping shadows and not changing leads.

I'd love to see Einstein make it as a sire. So far I think he's doing okay seeing as he wasn't precocious himself, and he probably didn't get a bunch of really good mares compared to the more fashionable first year sires.
