A. P. Indy picked up two winners from his last crop on November 16, as Patent (colt; A.P. Indy - Issaqueena by Mr. Prospector) won a mile and a sixteenth maiden race on the turf at Aqueduct {Watch the Replay), and Arethusa (filly; A.P. Indy - Miss Coronado by Coronado's Quest) broke her maiden in the 1 1/16 mile Sharp Cat Stakes on the Cushion Track at Hollywood Park (Watch the Replay). Overall, A.P. Indy has 6 winners from his final crop, with Arethusa his first stakes winner from that crop.

Sheikin Home

Q Two (Quiet American - Quality Gift (GB) by Last Tycoon (IRE)) and Ship to Shore (Majestic Warrior - Quintessa by Touch Gold) were scratched. Sheikinator (Curlin - Im a Dixie Girl by Dixie Union) took the early money, but Thunder Run (Colonel John - La Defense by Wild Again) was favored at post time. I was liking Dynamic Impact (Tiznow - Featherbed by Smart Strike). Tall Boy (Tale of the Cat - Quiet Now by Tiznow) was a little wet on a cool night. Thunder Run was full of pep in the post parade. Dynamic Impact was a little reluctant to load. There was a lot of bumping on the inside at the break. Bro Rodrigeaux (Tale of the Cat - Com Easy by Halo's Image) went to the lead, with Tall Boy also off to a quick start. Thunder Run had the rail spot in third early. He was pulling hard, with Julien Leparoux trying to restrain him. Bro Rodrigeaux continued to lead. Leparoux could not hold Thunder Run back any longer, as he took after the leader. Tall Boy was still there, along with Dynamic Impact. The latter horse found a gap on the rail and made a move on the leader. However, Bro Rodrigeaux continued to lead them. A new threat came from Sheikinator, who was rolling on the outside. Bro Rodrigeaux fought hard, but he couldn't hold off Sheikinator, who won by 1/2 length. The next four finished together, with Match Up (Broken Vow - Change Up by Distorted Humor) in third by a nose, over Quick Indian (Indian Charlie - Quick Temper by A.P. Indy), who was a neck in front of Thunder Run, who had a head advantage on Dynamic Impact. Bylia (Bandini - Defuhr by Langfuhr) and Tall Boy completed the field. Thunder Run was his own worst enemy in this one. Whether the result would have been different if Leparoux had just let him go, it is difficult to say, but he definitely needs to relax. Watch the Replay.

Showing Some Fortitude

Chitu (Henny Hughes - Sea Gift by A.P. Indy) was scratched. Pimpernel (Elusive Quality - Xtra Heat by Dixieland Heat) was the heavy favorite, and Fulmerized (Dunkirk - Beautiful Honor by Double Honor) was 9-2. Three Point Luke (Empire Maker - Western Princess by Gone West) caught my eye early. Fulmerized made a favorable appearance, but was looking around a bit. He was feisty in the post parade. Top Fortitude (Top Hit - French Debutante by French Deputy) looked good. Wrightwood (Elusive Quality - Grace Anatomy by Aldebaran) was away slowly. Fulmerized broke on top, but the favorite had speed too, and Pimpernel went by to set the pace. Fulmerized assumed a pressing position. Also involved early were Anxious Times (Tiznow - Dream Time by Storm Cat), Top Fortitude, and Melatonin (Kodiak Kowboy - Yanquee Reign by Yankee Victor). As they moved into the turn, Melatonin took over second, and Fulmerized began to drop back. Pimpernel and Melatonin dueled into the stretch, but looming on the outside was Top Fortitude. He wore down the top 2 for a 2 3/4-length victory. Melatonin captured second by better than 4 over favorite Pimpernel, who didn't help himself by ducking out late. It didn't cost him a placement, but it did make things a little interesting. Pimpernel was followed by Big Medicine Man (Indian Charlie - Upside by Unaccounted For), Fuzzy Logic (Into Mischief - Deal Us In by Mister Baileys (GB)), Wrightwood, Anxious Times, Fulmerized, and Three Point Luke. Fulmerized certainly tired after his early involvement, but hopefully he learned something. Watch the Replay.
