Victory for Vinceremos

The track was fast, and Constitution (Tapit - Baffled by Distorted Humor) was the only scratch. Vinceremos (Pioneerof the Nile - Kettle's Sister by More Than Ready) was favored, and he looked good in the prelims. The start was decent, although My Storm Trooper (Tropical Storm - Arcilla by Conquistador Cielo) bumped into Vinceremos as they left the gate. No one seemed particularly eager to set the pace. Eventually, Four More (Bernadini - My Mach Four by Machiavellian) and Mandatario (Grand Slam - Cat and the Hat by Storm Cat) went to the front. They were chased by a fairly compact pack, with Vinceremos in the middle of it. Four More and Mandatario continued to lead them, with Buck Magic (Broken Vow - Gatorette by Distorted Humor) and Legend (Tiznow - Royal Tigress by Storm Cat) moving closer on the outside. Vinceremos had a good spot on the rail. Legend took over the lead as they moved into the stretch. But, his lead was short-lived as Vinceremos and I'mbetterthangood (Exchange Rate - Cat Lea by Cat Thief) both went by him. Vinceremos sprinted a few lengths ahead, and seemed poised for a dominating win. But, he ducked in and had to steady, which allowed I'mbetterthangood to catch up. It came down to a head bob, which went to Vinceremos. Just 3/4-length behind the top pair was My Storm Trooper, who closed nicely. Legend had to settle for fourth, followed by pacesetters Mandatario and Four More. Completing the order were Sportscaster (Harlan's Holiday - Christmas Choir by Songandaprayer), Buck Magic, and Hurricane Ray (Tiznow - Zophie by Hawkster). Watch the Replay.
