Finian's Winning Run

Aristocracy (Tiz Wonderful - Aspen Mountain by Chief Seattle) was scratched, and the turf was good for the remaining 6. Embellishing Bob (Northern Afleet - Kirsche by Defrere) was the heavy favorite. Saint Finian (Pioneerof the Nile - Lustful by Yonaguska) was 9-1, but he looked good in the prelims. The start was good. Hijo Del Corredor (El Corredor - Christmas Party by Wild Again) went to the front, but right with him were Blue Y Gold (Mutakddim - Bromita (ARG) by Luhuk), and Cacooey (Indygo Shiner - Artistry by Theatrical (IRE)). Saint Finian settled at the back of the pack. Surfspun (Hard Spun - Surf Light by Malibu Moon) moved up on the outside, as Hijo Del Corredor continued to lead. Embelling Bob watched the top trio in fourth, followed by Saint Finian. Embellishing Bob was switched to the outside for his run. But, Saint Finian was also getting going, even further outside. Embellishing Bob took the lead, and Saint Finian set after him. It seemed as though the wire would come before Saint Finian could catch Embellishing Bob, but at the finish Saint Finian just got his nose in front. It was 4 1/2 lengths back to the others, who were led by Surfspun. He was followed by Hijo Del Corredor, Blue Y Gold, and Cacooey. Watch the Replay.

A Magic Win

Awesome Lassie (Awesome Again - Dynamite Lass by Dynaformer) and Toccet to Me Baby (Toccet - Saltwater Taffy by Doneraile Court) were scratched, and the track was fast. Moonstone Magic (Malibu Moon - Never Fail by Holy Bull) was the clear favorite, and Colonel Juanita (Colonel John - Salceda by Forestry) was 5-1. It was a decent start. Southern Equity (After Market - Humoristic by Sefapiano) broke on top, but Grand Moon (Malibu Moon - Grand Prayer by Grand Slam) got to the lead. Colonel Juanita chased after her in second. She was followed by Southern Equity. Grand Moon continued to lead, breaking away from the pack by several lengths. Colonel Juanita and Southern Equity began to advance on the pacesetter. Colonel Juanita moved even with Grand Moon, and then went on by. However, she was reluctant to switch leads. Favorite Moonstone Magic was motoring on the outside. She put Colonel Juanita away, but had to work hard to defeat a resurgent Grand Moon on the inside. At the wire, it was Moonstone Magic by just a neck over Grand Moon, with Colonel Juanita settling for third. It better than 8 lengths back to the others, who were led by Southern Equity. She was followed by Another Chance (Survivalist - Oakshela by Mineshaft) and How Come (Macho Uno - Miss Poison by Kingmambo). Watch the Replay.

Just Awesome

Soul Title (Perfect Soul (IRE) - Title Seeker by Monarchos) was the only scratch, and the track was fast. Voluptuous (Flashy Bull - Skatesheba (FR) by Green Tune) was favored, and Rubio's Gal (Dunkirk - Ten Carat Ruby by Rubiano) was 12-1. Cash in My Pocket (Curlin - Salty Farma by Salt Lake) was slow to begin. Awesome Houdini (Awesome Again - Houdini's Honey by Mr. Prospector) got to the lead from her rail spot. She was pressed by Gold Magic (Stormin Fever - River Gold by Seeking the Gold). This pair soon separated from the others. The rest were in a fairly tight bunch, with Rubio's Girl mixing it up with the leaders of this second group. Gold Magic continued pressing Awesome Houdini as they moved into the turn. Rubio's Gal and Cash in My Pocket moved closer to the leaders. As the entered the stretch, Awesome Houdini began to pull away. She rolled home to win by 4 3/4 lengths.
