Ekati's Phaeton Holds off Danessa

All eleven ran on the fast track. Ekati's Phaeton (Tale of Ekati - Seventh Veil by Capote) was favored. Danessa Deluxe (Summer Bird - Belle's Home by Came Home) wasn't getting much love from the bettors, and went off at 7-1. She made a favorable appearance, however, as she looks like her sire. Not Lady Like (Lemon Drop Kid - Lady Discovery by Malibu Moon) looked good at first glance. Gold Value (Value Plus - Bay of Gold by Seeking the Gold) reared at the load, unseating her rider. Danessa Deluxe was off slowly. Mucho Media (Mass Media - Culture Shock by Macho Uno) broke on top, but was passed by Ekati's Phaeton and Gold Value. Siccar (Graeme Hall - Gladstonia by Grand Slam) was their closest pursuer. At this point, Danessa Deluxe was not even in the picture. Siccar went up to put some pressure on Ekati's Phaeton. Coming on fron the back of the pack was Danessa Deluxe. Ekati's Phaeton pulled free from Siccar, but Danessa Deluxe continued to close. A jump after the wire, Danessa Deluxe was in front, but at the line the photo gave the nod to Ekati's Phaeton. Behind these came Siccar, who held third. It was a tough beat for Danessa Deluxe, but she certainly showed a lot of potential. Watch the Replay. Ekati's Phaeton is the 4th winner for Tale of Ekati.

A Darling Winner

There were no scratches, and the track was fast. I'm a Lucky Girl (Broken Vow - Flaming Dixie by Dixieland Band) was favored, and Shining America (Quality Road - Shining Tree by Forestry) was 9-1. The start was good, although Nurse John (Colonel John - Charismatic Nurse by Charismatic) soon dropped to the back. Pinkout (Outflanker - Pink Tights by Let Goodtimes Roll) went for the lead, along with Addy's Eyes (Discreetly Mine - Queens Reward by Good Reward), and Darling Sky (Sky Mesa - Darling Mambo by Broad Brush). Favorite I'm a Lucky Girl was not far off this trio. As they moved into the turn, Addy's Eyes began to retreat. Darling Sky and Pinkout continued to duel for a time, but then Darling Sky pulled away. She was a little green late, but she continued to lengthen her lead, passing the wire 7 1/4 lengths in front. I'm a Lucky Girl got up for second over Pinkout, with Spotted Heart (Lion Hearted - Red Valentine by Dehere) finishing well for fourth. She was followed by Sombria (Include - North of Neptune by Mr. Prospector), Shining America, who ran fairly even, Serious Happiness (El Corredor - Heavenly Empress by Pure Prize), Nurse John, and Addy's Eyes. Om....

Midnight Destiny (Midnight Lute - Pacific Destiny by Mr. Greeley) was the only scratch. First-time starter American Pharoah (Pioneerof the Nile - Littleprincessemma by Yankee Gentleman) was the buzz horse and was favored. One Lucky Dane (Lookin At Lucky - Echo Harbor by Boston Harbor) was 11-1. He looked good. Om (Munnings - Rare Cat by Tabasco Cat) caught my eye, and Calculator (In Summation - Back to Basics by Alphabet Soup) made a favorable appearance. Scorpious (Tale of the Cat - Garden Secrets by Time for a Change) was a little on edge. The start was good. Om went straight to the lead. Pressing him were American Pharoah and Scorpious. One Lucky Dane had a decent spot, just off the speed. Om continued to lead them, and began to separate from the rest. Iron Fist (Tapit - Successful Outlook by Orientate) was beginning to rally, but he had a lot left to do. Om kept it up, and rolled home, winning by 7 1/4 lengths. Iron Fist was best of the rest, and One Lucky Dane outfought Calculator for third. Behind Calculator came favorite American Pharoah, Daddy D T (Scat Daddy - Issues by Awesome Again), Scorpious, Litigation Road (Bellamy Road - Dynameesch by Dynaformer), and Miltee (Arch - Fanny Cerrito by Gulch).
